Members who bring items to the club to be auctioned off will get half of the money the item is auctioned off for, the rest will go to our special fund.Dave and Pete will try to check out the Apalachicola area in the next few weeks, so we can establish a launch site for the September tournament. Thanks again to Dave and Jenny for setting up the club banquet, and to Mack for the Superbowl party, they were both a lot of fun.

New Business:

Steve Hoomes from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission was our guest speaker at this month's meeting. Thank's to Frank Kelly for setting it up. The following were some of the laws governing our waters:

1. Each person must have a life jacket.

2. Boat registration must be on board or on your person.

3. Life jackets or inflatable vests must say coast guard approved, type 3.

4. Must have a throw cushion on board, a rope is not required to be tied to the cushion.

5. Individuals born after September 1st, 1980, must take a boating course.

6. You must have a horn, bell or whistle on board.

7. Kids 6 years of age or under must wear a life jacket at all times.

8. Boats under 24' in length, with fixed fuel tanks, must have a fire extinguisher on board.

9. If you carry firearms in your boat, and get stopped , you must declare them to the officer as personal protection, they cannot be concealed.

10. The stern light must be visible at 360 degrees.

11. If you are fishing a bank in low light conditions, prior to official sun-up, your white light must be on, especially in fog conditions.

12. Flares are required for off-shore only, or if your on a body of water that is the size of say lake okeechobee.

13. Anchors and paddles are not required.

14. Incidents involving alcohol while operating your boat are treated the same as if your were in your vehicle.

These were most of the topics discussed, be advised though, a lot of the topics mentioned above that are not required by the state of Florida are required and governed by bass club rules.
February Tournament:

At safe daylight, we had 12 boats ready for take-off, the wind was out of the south west about 15 to 25 mph, the river was high and the tide was coming in, luckily, the rain storms had already moved through the area. Most of the creeks were muddied up and out in the woods, typical Tensaw this time of year. It was a tuff tournament to say the least, it can only get better, I hope....
Some of the guys were fortunate enough to land a few keepers, no limits were caught. Great job to those who caught keepers.

Brian Metcalf took the top honors with 4 fish and 5.65 lbs.

Pete Potter took the big fish of the day, a 2.75 lb mule.
Brian, Kevin, John and Jere took the top 4 places.

L@@k Out Boo-Ray

You can see Lee Brannon is always hard at work and tries to win hands down everything from the Slammer to the Boo-Ray pot. Story goes that when he hooked this Hawg,
he instantly grew one of those big Lee Brannon smiles and could be heard counting
MONEY!! under his breath....That was before
Mr. Whiskers poped up to the muddy surface.

"Sorry Lee"
Them Don't Count

Hope you got ta taste your keeper Jeff Weaver was going to clean and cook for you...
