Brian Metcalf Fisherman Of The Year 2003 |
May 2004 |
Minutes of the Meeting: The May 2004 meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at 7:00 p.m. on May 19, 2004. The meeting was location was changed to Founaris Brothers on Hwy 29 due to the closing of the Seafood Shanty. President Brian Metcalf presided. There were 24 members and one guest present. Pete Potter thanked those that were able to sell raffle tickets. Walter McCartney told the club that the latest shirt order has still not come in. It has been approximately three months and no firm receipt date has been established. Another shirt source is being sought. Fred reported that 13 fisherman had a great time fishing and reminiscing at the Wally Cassiano Memorial Fishing Tournament held on May 15, 2004 on the Mighty Escambia River. Needless to say, lots of Wally stories were shared. Thanks for the memories Wally. We still miss you. New Buisness: Welcome to our guest, Stan Kiefer. Stan has been a bass fisherman for quite some time and is considering joining the club. His sponsor is Ken Repine. Pete Potter reported that Dewayne Kimbro was quickly recovering from recent back surgery. Pete is also almost back to normal after some surgery of his own. Ken Repine recently purchased a laptop computer and suggested that the club try using it on a trial basis to keep the club records on. With the right applications, the weigh-ins and the posting of the results on the web page could be completed quicker. The current process is time intensive and prone to mistakes. Using a computer would not totally eliminate mistakes, but would make the needed calculations much quicker and easier. Discussion from the membership centered around the possibility of losing data if there were a failure of the computer, either at the weigh-in or during record manipulation. The club secretary, Kevin Simmons, stated that he would continue to keep paper records and enter the results in the computer during a trial period. The club membership agreed. |
