Message From The President:

Did anyone other than me have ICE on their boat at Fish River?
I hope that the coming week
(it's suppose to be in the 30's again)
will be the last of Old Man Winter for us. March is almost here and that means Seminole. Hopefully warmer weather and big fish. Depending on the weather again, we should hit it just right for pre and post and spawning fish.
Remember guys, just follow Jere.
He knows where they are! I am really looking forward to our cookout.
This will be the first for many of our new members. While it's not going to be steak and potatoes this time, it will be all you can eat. See you all on 3/17/10.

Dave

Minutes of the Meeting:

The February meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at 7:00 P.M. February 17, 2010
at Founaris Brothers Restaurant.
Dave Dyess presided over the meeting. There were 23 members and 2 prospective members present.

Old Business:

The secretary's and the treasurer's report was given and accepted.
Bill Myrick reported the Boo-Ray pot is up to $336 for a 5lb fish.
There was no 50/50 drawing this month.
Terry Smith, a former member of the
Hawg Hunters custom paints lures.
If you are interested you can contact him or Lee Brannon. Frank Kelly reports that he will reserve all rooms for the club on our out of town tournaments. Please do not call and reserve rooms.
The January tournament results were given out and the tournament draw for the February tournament was done.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:41PM.

New Business:

No new business.

February Tournament:

The fourth tournament of the new tournament year was held on Fish River at Highway 98 Bridge landing.
With early morning temperature in the lower 30's twenty three Hawg Hunters drifted anxiously under the Highway 98 bridge waiting for the go ahead from TD Frank Kelly. Dave Bock was the only one out of the 23 anglers that found the trick that worked to bring in a limit of fish.
All others had 1, 2 3 or 4. You know the fishing is tough when eleven members fish all day and still find their names listed in the ALSO FISHED category.

1st Place
Jeff Weaver

Jeff Weaver brought in four nice fish to take 1st place with a weight of 5.77 lbs.
It looks as if ole Jeff just can't be happy with winning everything else for the year.
It looks like he's also set his eyes on the most coveted award the Hawgs Hunters have to offer...That's Rite!!
The little white box we award at our end of year banquet.
I doubt even Frank Kelly will be able to outshine Jeff this year.
Buddy said Jeff couldn't move fast enough Saturday when he unstuck a crank bait from a tree. talk is he ran all over that boat trying ta catch that bait.
Jeff said he's going to start wearing it to the tournaments.
He calls it his FISH-ON FACE.

If we had been fishing a Bowfin (grennel)
tournament Saturday Buddy would have won hands down with a 245 lb whopper...
hee hee

February Tournament:

2nd Place
Dave Bock

Dave Bock brought in the only limit of the tournament with 5 fish weighing 5.49 lbs.
Dave did you cull any keepers this time?

3rd Place
Buddy Yates

Buddy took third place with 4 fish weighing 4.69 Pounds. Buddy and Jeff fished together and took 1st and 3rd place. Buddy even caught a nice 245 pounder in the chin. He had to unhook it and release it since it was the wrong species. It was Jeff he hooked with a Bandit Crankbait.

4th Place
Dave Dyess

Dave came on strong again this month as he took 4th place with 4 fish and 4.52 lbs. Way to go Dave!!
