TOURNAMENT REPORT

Mobile River
November 13, 2010
Steel Creek Landing

One again, here I am folks....Frank Kelly sitting in for John Buck who is off hunting somewhere in the mid-west.

Our November tournament was held on the Alabama River but at a landing we've never used before...Steel Creek Landing.
It (the landing) is an excellent launch site, plenty
of parking spots for the trailers and lots of dock space to tie up to.

At blast of time, the temperature was in the low 50's and boy was it foggy. So foggy it made ity difficult to navigate areas that were new to us. The majority of the guys stayed fairly close to that side of the river system while at least one boat (the winning one)
went over to the Tensaw. My partner Frank Dodge and myself, started to run to a spot I found a few weeks ago, but the weather kept us from really going anywhere./ We didn't have as much as a nibble in the starting spot, but by 6:45 we were running.
We
stopped at the first pipe-line and I hooked a nice keeper on my 2nd or 3rd cast. We stayed in that area for awhile and caught nothing so we went to the 3rd pipe-line area and I caught number 2 and 3 keepers there. That was about it so Frank and I decided
to go back to where I caught my 1st keeper. Frank was struggling with just catching dinks when he hooked a nice fish.....
we knew it wasn't a bass when it didn't
surface right away and it turned out to be a nice red weighing in at about 9 pounds.

Back at the landing we heard some real sob stories.....good anglers catching a few and in some cases, no keepers at all.
It seems that Mack's decision to go to his SECRET spot on the Tensaw
paid off with Mack taking 1st place with 5 keepers at 7.87 pounds (and BIG fish at 2.22) while his back seater Jeff also had a limit and 2nd place with 6.18 pounds.
(can this possibly be......JEFF not in 1st place
in just about a years time......goodness).
Kevin came in a close 3rd with 4 bass weighing in at
5.68 lbs while
Dave Bock hung onto 4th place honors with 3 keepers for 4.58 pounds.

All in all....a GREAT tournament...and I for one would like to go back that way again. Our next tournament will also be moved up one week closer....it's on December 11th at Smith's landing on the Escambia....
see you at the meeting on Wednesday, December 8th.......John will be back next month.

Frank!!
