Minutes of the Meeting:

The December meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at
7:00 P.M.  December 12, 2012
at Founaris Brothers Restaurant.
President Jeff Weaver presided over the meeting. There were 22 members and 3 guests.  Ryan Cole, son of Randy Cole and two prospective new members:   Jeremy Burkart and Marion Johnson.

Old Business:

Minutes from the November meeting were waived. The Treasurer's report was given and accepted.

The Awards Banquet held December 7th was attended by 41 people and deemed very successful by all who participated to mark and end to the 2012 season.

Recognition was given to the following members for their help putting on the Awards Banquet:

Marc Churchwell for emceeing and along with his wife Kathy for picking out and wrapping the gifts given during the “Dirty Santa” raffle.

Jere Jailitte for picking up and distributing the roses to the spouses.

Kevin Simmons for putting together and publishing the Banquet Pamphlet.

Jeff Weaver for entertaining us with the photo presentation put to music.

John Buck for his always eloquent presentation of the Slammer Award to this year’s recipient Bob Jones.

We also had a special Guest….(no not the guy with the fish tie and Bass Pro Shops jacket)….Roger Helms and his wife Bonnie traveled all the way from Jacksonville to be with us at the Banquet.   It was great to see you again and meet your wife.  Hope you both enjoyed yourselves.   Congrats Roger on Big Fish of the Year!   A 6.29 lb Whopper!

Booray Pot currently has 22 members participating...see Bill Myrick for details.

New Business:

50/50 drawing was done and the last member to buy a ticket was the winner.  Rick Howard.  Half to Rick the other half to the special fund.   (next time Bill…shake the pot better)

Kevin Simmons gave pointers on how to use a special key when backing up your trailer if your trailer has brakes installed.   Mack Cramer also offered his two cents worth on the subject.   (use two penny’s with tape).   If your trailer has brakes see Kevin for more details on how to get your very own key.

Notes from the Tournament Director:

If you are a boater and wish to stay overnight for the Miller’s Ferry Tournament in May, YOU need to make your own reservation for the motel room.  Call Southern Inn @ (334) 682-4148

Also a change to the October Fish-Off @ Apalachicola.  We will now be staying at the El Rancho Inn.

Bill Myrick brought to our attention that the Early registration began November 12 for the 23rd annual Military Team Bass Championship tournament, slated for May 8-10, 2013, at Lake Seminole near Bainbridge, Ga. Entry fee is $150 per team.  See Bill or  http://www.americanbassanglers.com/MBA/ for more info.

On a more serious note:   One of our former members and good friend Manning Hitt is struggling with some medical issues and we ask you keep him and his family in your prayers as you spend the holidays with your families.

December tournament results were given out.  Great job to the top 4.   (don’t forget to include it as earnings on your income taxes this year)

The pairing of partners was conducted for the December Tournament at Escambia River.

The Meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m.

December Tournament:

The December Tournament was held on the Escambia River out of Swamp house landing.   We had 19 members and 3 guests fishing out of 11 boats in the tournament.  You could not have asked for a better day in December to fish.  Temps in the mid 60’s with overcast skies while everyone up north was dealing with snow.

1st Place
Mack Cramer
Mack came up to the scales with a big ole grin on his face and showed us how you catch fish on the Escambia River.   His five fish limit weighed in at a whopping 12.29 pounds while the rest of us struggled with small fish.  His kicker and big fish of the tournament weighed in at 6.32 pounds, which by the way, was the total weight of all 5 fish he weighed in last tournament.   Boo-yah!   Yes he will also claim the money from the booray pot!
Congratulations Mack !!!!

2nd Place

Jeff Weaver
Jeff brought to the scales a five fish limit weighing 5.15 pounds.   Mack and Jeff were the only 2 people who brought limits to the scales.  This puts them two at a 100% catch rate for 2 tournaments.

Congratulations Jeff!!

3rd Place

Buddy Yates
Third place went to Buddy with 4 fish weighing in at 4.11 pounds.  This will jump Buddy from 6th place to 3rd place for the yearly standings.   Good Job!

Congratulations Buddy!!!

4th Place

Rounding out the top 4 was John Buck with his 4 fish weighing in at 3.68.  They may have been small fish but good enough to get in the money.  Seems like this tournament you had to catch at least 4 fish to get paid.

Congratulations John!!

Tournament Results:

We had a total of 19 members and 3 guests fishing the tournament with 21 people catching fish.  Big fish honors went to Mack Cramer with a Booray fish of 6.32 pounds.   We had only 2 people catching limits. Our 1st and 2nd place finishers.  41 fish were caught totaling 51.12 pounds for an average of 1.24 pounds per fish.  Club average was 2.31 fish per person. A little better than last month.

Prospective Hawg Hunters

Jeremy Burkart

Jeremy is an active duty Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer currently teaching school at Cory Station.   Jeremy fished with Mack Cramer and would of took Second place with his two fish caught weighing 6.32 pounds.  This was his big fish of the day weighing 4.9 pounds.  Good job Jeremy but you are not supposed to show us up on your guest tournament.  Sponsored by Brian McCarthy.

Marion Johnson

Marion is sponsored by his neighbor Frank Kelly but we will try not to hold it against him as you really can’t pick your neighbors.   Marion is new to Bass Fishing and is eager to learn what the club can teach him.  This tournament he was taught patience and how to be a good sport when you don’t catch fish.   Although I think we were all humbled just a little bit by Mack’s 12 pound limit on Escambia River.
