Minutes of the Meeting:

The January meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at
7:00 P.M. January 16, 2013
at Founaris Brothers Restaurant.
President Jeff Weaver presided over the meeting. There were 22 members until the voting of new members then we had 24.  Congrats to Jeremy Burkart and Marion Johnson on joining the ranks of our prestigious club.  May a fish bring back your worm every time you throw it out.

Old Business:

Minutes from the December meeting were waived. The Treasurer's report was given and accepted.  The Booray started over with 22 members participating.  Won last month by Mack Cramer with a nice 6.32 pound Largemouth Bass from Escambia River.  Good time to join in on the fun…only costs $2.00 a month paid yearly.  See Bill Myrick with your check book to get in.

New Business:

50/50 Drawing was held…half to Frank Kelly the other half to the Special Fund.

The scales we currently use are going out of warranty so the club voted to pay for an extension of another 3 years.

Mack Cramer invited everyone to his house for his annual Super Bowl get together.  He’s doing the cooking just bring your own drinks.  RSVP Mack to let him know your coming.  It really is a great time to relax from our strenuous fishing tournaments and watch other professionals work.

Jeff Weaver gave us advance notice that United Way of Santa Rosa County was looking for fishermen to fish the 8th Annual United Way – Fishin’ with a Mission Charity Tournament on the 1st Saturday of April with registration starting on the 4th of Feb.  Last year one of our very own members Brian McCarthy finished 3rd place in the tournament. Their web page is http://www.unitedwaysrc.org/

Kind of Ironic….but last month Kevin Simmons gave us good information about  trailer brakes…well this month on his way to the tournament at Fish River he ended up on the side of the road with a bad wheel bearing on his trailer and missed out on a good day of fishing.  His partner was paired up with our single boater so it only affected Kevin.   Let’s all learn from Kevin…go out and check your wheel bearings on your trailer right now so you don’t miss out on fishing.

Notes from the Tournament Director:

Don’t forget…If you are a boater and wish to stay overnight for the Miller’s Ferry Tournament in May, YOU need to make your own reservation for the motel room. Call Southern Inn @ (334) 682-4148

December tournament results were given out. Great job to the top 4.

The e-board met and made an unanimous decision to Swap the January and February tournament sites due to dangerously high water at Cliff’s.  So the club tournament will be held at Fish River this month at the Hwy 98 Bridge landing.

The pairing of partners was conducted for the January Tournament at
Fish River.

The Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

January Tournament:

The January Tournament was held on the Fish River at the Hwy 98 Bridge. We had 20 members out of 10 gorgeous boats from just about every manufacturer.  We have Triton’s, Ranger’s, Skeeter's, Champion’s, Stratos’ Venture’s and Express boats. Almost a big of mix as our members.  Saturday was another one of them beautiful days in January.  Lows of 44 at launch time quickly rising to mid 60’s for the rest of the day.

1st Place
Dave Bock

Dave had a nice bag of fish.  One short of a limit but with a kicker in the bag weighing 3.66 pounds it was enough to put him over the top for 1st place and Big Fish to boot.  His 4 fished weighed 7.08 lbs.  Good job Dave on your FIRST ever win in club since your membership started 4 and ½ years ago.  Your persistence has finally paid off.  This 1st place finish is going to jump Dave up 10 places from 15th to 5th place tied with John Buck in the yearly standings.  (How are we going live with him now.)

Congratulations Dave !!!!

January Tournament:

2nd Place
John Buck

John caught a limit of fish weighing 6.16 pounds after taking a dead fish penalty.  He said he even got to cull one during the day.  John and his partner Bill caught fish all day but had to weed through a bunch of small ones to get a limit.  Looks like your weeding was on the money.  Of course having a landscaping business probably didn’t hurt.  John’s 3rd place finish jumps him up 9 places to 5th place tied with Dave Bock in the yearly standings.
Congratulations John !!

3rd Place
Jere Jaillite

Third place went to Jere with a limit of 5 fish weighing in at 6.08 pounds. Just .08 lbs behind second place which comes out to 1.28 ounces.  This truly is a game of ounces…or should we say hundredths of an pound!  This 3rd place finish is going to jump Jere up two notches to 3rd place in the yearly standings.

Congratulations Jere!!!

4th Place
Thom Labelle

Rounding out the top 4 was Thom with his 4 fish weighing in at 5.09. Beating Brain McCarthy out of the money by just .06 lbs or .96 ounces.  Moves Thom up 3 places in the yearly standing.  Better to go up than down in the yearly standing.

Congratulations John!!

Tournament Results:

We had a total of 20 members and no guests fishing the tournament with 18 people catching fish. Big fish honors went to Dave Bock for a 3.66 pound Largemouth. 3 people caught limits. Two made it into the top 4.  The other limit caught by Terry Smith was only good enough for 7th place.  20 members caught 57 fish for a 2.85 fish per person average.  Total weight was 70.28 pounds for a 1.22 pound average per fish.  For the year end standings, we had 9 people advance, 6 declines, 2 new members added and our current #1 Mack Cramer stayed put but now has to share the top spot with Bill Myrick.   Watch out Mack we are gaining on you fast.
