Minutes of the Meeting:

The July meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at
7:00 P.M. July 17, 2013
at Founaris Brothers Restaurant.
President Jeff Weaver presided over the meeting. There were 24 members’ present and one guest, Bryan’s daughter Faith from Nashville.

Old Business:

The reading of the Minutes from last month was waived.  The Treasurer's report was given and accepted. The Booray Pot rolled over once again last month with 23 members participating. See Bill Myrick for specific details. Buddy Yates reported that his son is continuing to improve since his accident 5 months ago.  Ken Repine is also improving and getting around more maybe we’ll see him at the next meeting.  Let’s keep them in our thoughts and prayers as the days go by.

A reminder from our host Fournaris Brothers to go ahead and enjoy their fine food while we conduct our club business.

A motion was called to the floor to “maintain the Pensacola Hawg Hunters web page for 5 years using money from the general fund to pay for it.”  Paying 5 years up front would bring the cost down to just $36 a year over the 5 year period. The next step is to figure out what you want to see on the website (besides your smiling face holding up a 6 pounder).  Talk to Dave Bock…seems Jim Bailey has been grooming him for the last year of so.   Thanks Jim…J

New Business:

50/50 Drawing was held…Half to Dave Bock (Hooyah!) and the other half to the Special Fund.

The end of the year banquet is fast approaching us so questionnaires were handed out as to when in December and where we want to have it.  Be sure to voice your ideas and opinion to make this another successful dinner.

***Proposals for the constitution and rules are due in writing by the next meeting in August***

Do you want to increase you commitment to the club…then run for one of the E-board positions.  Nominations are now being accepted.  So far Don has made it known that he will vacate the Tournament Director position he has held for the last two years.   The Secretary position is always open to anyone willing……

Safety Corner:

We are in the Hot months….so keeping thinking about Heat Stress and Heat Stroke. Drink Plenty of water to stay hydrated all day long…not just when you feel thirsty. Keep an eye on your partner too and remember…the quickest way to cool them down…is to jump in the water.  Don’t forget about Thunder and Lighting either.  This last tournament was pretty exciting with the storm that rolled through just before Blast off.

Notes:
From The Tournament Director

The June tournament results were given. Great job to the top 4 last month.

Don threw out to the club ideas on how to keep from fishing with the same person two tournaments in a row.  His idea was to draw the non-boater first and then let them pick their boater.   If you have ideas on how to mix it up…..submit them so we can vote on them.

The Caravan was scheduled to leave Food World on Pine Forest Road at 4:30am Saturday morning.

The Meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.

July Tournament:

The July Tournament was held on Perdido River out of Seminole Landing. We had 21 members fishing out of 11 boats for the one day tournament.  As soon as we got all the boats in the water it started to pour down rain.   We even had Thunder and Lighting roll through before the start.  The water level was about 2 foot higher than normal even with the incoming tide.  The farther south you went the cleaner the water was.

On to the Top Four of the Tournament!

1st Place

Jere Jaillite

Jere showed us why he is leading the pack for Angler of the Year.  He was the only one with a limit of fish in which he easily took first place honors weighing 7.04 pounds.  A whole 2.25 pounds ahead of 2nd place.  This puts Jere 16.5 points ahead of the nearest competitor.  Of note, this is Jere’s first win this season but he’s been consistently finishing in the top 6 during every tournament.   Jere has earned himself a vacation we hope he’ll take during the next tournament.

Great Job Jere!

2nd Place
Thom Labelle
Second place went to Thom who didn’t let fishing by himself stop him from catching 3 fish weighing 4.75 pounds.  This jumps Thom up 4 places in the year end standings to 9th place overall.

Great Job Thom!

3rd Place
Bill Myrick
Bill caught 3 fish for a total weight of 4.34.  He also took Big Fish Honors with a 2.45 pound kicker.  This is Bill’s 2nd time in the money this season.  Bill remains in 7th for the year end standings.  Bill’s partner was Jeff Weaver and Jeff at the meeting predicted his partner would be in the money.  Guess you were right Jeff, but what happened to you?

Great Job Bill!

4th Place
Lee Brannon
Rounding out the top 4 was Lee with 4 fish tipping the scales at 4.28 almost 2.5 lbs. ahead of the 5th place finisher.  Lee jumps from 5th to 3rd place in the year end standings.  This is Lee’s first time in the money this year but he has yet to be skunked in our tournaments.  Consistence pays off.

Great Job Lee!

Tournament Results:

We had a total of 21 members and no guests fishing the one day tournament with 10 out of the 21 catching fish.  We caught 21 fish for a pitiful 1fish per person average.  Total weight was 28.2 pounds for a 1.34 pound per fish average.

On the yearly standings we had 9 people advance their position while 10 declined.  Biggest mover up was Thom Labelle advancing 4 places.  Remember you have to fish to advance in the standings.  So far this season our top 3 fishermen, Jere, Jeff and Lee have made every tournament and caught fish in each.   Just 3 more tournaments to go.  Make your plans now for the August tournament. Currently we have 17 members eligible for the Fish Off and Voting Rights. You need at least 6 tournaments to participate…make your plans now…the season is running out.
