TOURNAMENT REPORT

Lake Mitchell
September 20/21, 2014
Higgins Landing

Mack Cramer here, ole John was unable to be with us on the Lake Mitchell tournament and he asked me to handle his report for him, so here goes. I drew Don J. and as usual he was a good partner. We left Thursday morning and arrived at the lake about 7am. Our first stop was a grassy point and Don boated one immediately, we then began to concentrate on grassy points. By day’s end we had boated some nice keepers. The same went for Friday. Tournament day started off with 2 other tournaments going out of the same landing. It wasn’t bad if you got there early but if you didn’t up the hill you had to walk, Don commented that he sure was glad we got there early.  The day turned out to be a gorgeous day, got a little warm but not too bad.  I opened the scales and down the hill they came. When it was over Ole Jeff was in the lead and his partner Dave won big fish. Upon returning to the motel Lee and Ron B. began cooking the fish, Mmmmm were they good, great job Lee and supervisor Ron.  After a good night’s rest we returned Sunday morning with some fog and a little threat of rain off in the distance but soon both were gone. Weigh in was at 1 pm, this time we stayed in the parking lot, up and down the steps and hill was a bit much with all the gear in hand. After the crying towels were handed at Ole Jeff hung on to his lead with a nice bag of fish and took 1st place. Good job Jeff. Roger Helms took big fish honors with a nice 4 plus pound fish. All in all a great time was had by all. Filling in for John.
