Minutes of the Meeting:

The June meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at
7:00 P.M. June 18, 2014
at Founaris Brothers Restaurant.
Our President Jeff Weaver presided over the meeting. There were 20 members present and 1 soon to be member based on the vote  for membership of Matt Brown.

Old Business:

Reading of the Minutes from the June meeting were waived.  The Treasurer's report was given and accepted.

The Booray Pot was won by Jeff Weaver for his 5.12 pound beauty he caught at Miller's Ferry.  So the Pot starts over with 21 members participating.  See Bill Myrick for details.

One of our members....Frank Kelly was recently staying over night in the hospital and is now home safe and doing well.   Keep him in your thoughts and give him a call sometime to let him know we are still thinking about him.

Our membership went up by one when a unanimous vote was conducted to accept Matt Brown into our ranks.   Should bring down our average age of the club....hehe.

New Business:

50/50 drawing was conducted and Lee Brannon was the lucky winner!

Pay attention to your fish.  June, July and August are our HOT months so keep a close eye on your fish and your partner too for that matter.

Remember don't bring the fish markers to the scales.  Using your own bag would avoid the problem.

Fuel expenses for tournaments are to be shared and the most accurate way to figure them out is to start with everything full prior to the meet up.

Remember 2:00pm weigh-ins for the next 3 tournaments.  June, July and August.

May tournament results were given out and the draw was done for partners for the June Tournament at Tensaw River.

The Meeting was adjourned at 7:43 pm.

From the tournament Director:

From the Tackle Box...

Perdido River, Wow, what can one say, you either love it or you hate it.  For me, well let's just say that if it suddenly dried up I wouldn't be upset.  The problem with the river is, it looks like there should be a fish on every tree, and unfortunately that's not the case.  For me to try and
pass on helpful info for you to take to the river I have none.  I can however pass on to you what others have told me.  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

As you can see not much was passed on. Take your best shot an
d hopefully you will be successful.  Also make sure you have your Alabama and Florida license with you.  There are some areas you might go where you will be in Alabama.  Be prepared.  Also keep in mind that it will be hot so start drinking WATER on Friday and hydrate yourself, especially all you old codgers.

Tournament:

The June Tournament was a one day tournament held at Tensaw River out of Cliff's landing.  16 club members showed up for the suspected Hot day.   Temperature maybe but not the fishing.

Tournament Results:

1st Place

Lee Brannon

Yep that's Lee.   Looking younger every day.  Lee brought 3 fish weighing 5.76 pounds up to the scales including a Big Fish of 2.51 pounds.   Great Job Lee on finding fish during a tough tournament.  This jumps Lee up 4 places in the AOY standings.  Way to go Lee.

 Congrats Jeff!

2nd Place
Tony Boyett

Tony takes 2nd place honors by bringing in 4 fish weighing in at 5.33 pounds.  This is Tony's first time this year in the "money" out of the 6 tournament's he's participated in.  Tony jumps 7 places in the AOY standings.  Great job!

Congrats Tony!

3rd Place
Jere Jaillite

Jere brought 4 fish weighing 5.14 pounds up to the scales to take 3rd place.  This is Jere's 6 time in the "money slots" out of 8 tournaments.  Time to call the IRS so we can get some of our money back.  Jere's finish now puts him up solidly in 1st place with a 8 point lead over Mack Cramer.

Congrats Jere!

4th Place
Jim Bailey

Looking fancy in his "Toon" shirt, Jim rounds out the top 4 catching 4 fish weighing in at 5.02 pounds.  This too is Jim's first time in the "money" this year.  Funny thing is he drew out Jere as his partner after both of them pre-fishing together.   Wonder if they had them fish staked out?   Just kidding....it was a tough tournament by all accounts and Jim did great.

Congratulations Jim!

July's Birthday's

Tony Boyett, Jeremy Burkart, and Thom Labelle

Tournament Results:

Tensaw River was a tough tournament with only 9 people out of 16 catching fish.  By all accounts the river was muddy even way back up the creeks.  And the weather was HOT.  Good thing we have a 2pm weigh-in.  16 fishermen caught 25 fish for a  1.5 fish per person.  Weight wise total weight was 31.48 pounds for the 25 fish shows a 1.25 pound average.  Big fish honors went to Lee Brannon with a 2.51 pound bruiser.

We had 2 more dead fish this time bring our yearly total to 20.  Let's be careful.

AOY Analysis

Our AOY Race is heating up with a change in the lead this month.  With Jeff missing the tournament to do great things up north he relinquish the lead to Jere.  Of course Jere had a hand in it too by finishing 3rd in the tournament.  Mack also moves up one notch to 2nd place just 9 points behind Jere.  Bill Myrick held onto his 4th place spot.  Newcomer to the Top Six is Ron Bridges who has been steadily rising up the ranks.  Kevin Simmons jumps back to 6th place spot but has company with Dave Dyess who dropped down one slot to tie.

We had 10 people advance their standing while 15 people declined.  Biggest mover was Tony Boyett.  Remember you can't improve your standings if you don't fish.  Helps if you catch fish too!
