Minutes of the Meeting:
The
May meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at
7:00 P.M. May 21, 2014
at Founaris Brothers Restaurant.
Our President Jeff Weaver presided over the meeting. There were 17
members present and 1 guest present a prospective member Matt Brown.
Old Business:
Reading of the Minutes from the April meeting were waived. The
Treasurer's report was given and accepted.
The
Booray Pot rolled over from April as no one caught a fish over 5 pounds at the April Tournament. See
Bill Myrick for details.
A discussion was conducted about Lake Jordan and the ramps to use if we go there again next year.
Thanks
to those who made the cookout at Lake Jordan a success. Always
great to get together and enjoy a fine meal while we try to out do each
others stories.
New Business:
50/50
drawing was conducted and Frank Dodge had the winning ticket.
We haven't seen Frank in a while and he comes in and takes our money. Way to go Frank! Remember on the 50/50 you can't win if you don't buy a ticket.
Half of the it goes to the winner and the the other half to
the special fund which pays for our meals at the 2 day tournaments.
Since May is a one day tournament there was no need to pass around the proviable cookout signout sheet.
Boaters needed to make thier own reservations for Miller's Ferry if they were going to stay over Friday night.
Dave Bock invited everyone to celebrate his birthday at the steak restaurant.
April tournament
results were given out and the draw was done for partners for the
May Tournament at Miller's Ferry.
The
Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.

I would like
to start off with thanking Carlito for filling in for me at the May meeting.
Good job Carlito.
There was a
little discussion at the last meeting over the Alabama Rig and as most of you
know I sent out a newsletter in response. For future reference if anyone has
heard something about laws changing or regulations changing please identify the
source of your information so we can research it and make a decision based on
facts and not hearsay. Now, once again we still have club members bringing
their fish to the scales with markers attached to the fish. Please make every
attempt not to do this it slows the weigh in process down. As a reminder all
club members are required to have their own weigh bags. Boaters are not
required to have a bag for the non-boater.
Unfortunately
we had some dead fish at the Millers Ferry tournament. I do realize that there
are occasions that fish are hooked deep and there is nothing one can do, but we
all need to be aware of the fish in the live well and keep track of them.
Overall we had a good tournament and there were some nice fish caught.
Our birthday
boys for the month of June are Randy Cole and Mack Cramer
June takes
us to The Tensaw River out of Cliffs Landing.
One would be
hard pressed to find someone who bass fishs this area and has not been to
Tensaw. Me telling people what to through can sometimes go in one ear and out
the other. We all have our favorite lures to throw. But should Tensaw get
difficult like it can hopefully a few of my suggestions will help. June Bug
June Bug June Bug, what can I say that color has always been a favorite of many
fishermen on the Tensaw. Depending on what direction you go can determine what
you will throw. Im a grass man myself so when Im in the delta I throw 3
primary baits plastics, spinner baits, and DOA shrimp, now if you go up crank
baits and jigs come in to the to throw category. Hopefully with your favorites
and a few of my suggestions you will have a great day on the water and remember
respect where others are fishing.

Tournament:
The
May Tournament was a one day tournament held at Miller's Ferry lauching
at the Ellis Landing.
We had 8 boats with 15 club members and one prospective member
Matt Brown fishing the tournament. Most everyone went up on
Friday to prefish then have dinner with Dave Bock to celebrate his
Birthday. (Thanks for the Birthday Wishes)
Tournament Results:
1st Place Jeff Weaver
No
Jeff didn't get eaten by the gator...he just didn't get into the
pictures that were being taken. Are you sure you won the
tournamet? No pictures no proof....LOL. Jeff bought in 5
nice fish for a total limit weighing in at 13.91 pounds. He even
had a fish over 5 pounds to claim the Booray money. His big
fish weighed 5.12 pounds. Way to go Jeff! This win put Jeff
back in 1st place for AOY points. Great Job! Congrats Jeff!
2nd Place
Lee Brannon
Lee
takes 2nd place honors by bringing in 5 fish weighing in at 9,41
pounds. This is Lee's second time in the money this season and it
jumps him up 5 places in the AOY standings.
Great Job Lee!
3rd Place Mack Cramer
Mack
fresh off his trip to Mexico getting lots of practice manages to take
Third
place with a limit of 5 fish. His limit weighed in at 8.62
pounds. Nice fish Mack. Mack stays in 3rd place for AOY
but goes home with a little more of our money.
Congrats Mack!
4th Place Jere Jaillite
Rounding
out the top four we find Jere Jaillite back again for his 5th time in
the money this season. Jere is being Mr. Consistent again this
year except for that one hiccup during the February tournament.
Jere's limit of fish weighed in at 8.46 pounds. Jere
drops to 3 points behind Jeff in the AOY points but I have a feeling
next tournament he'll be back on top of the pack.
Congratulations Jere! June's Birthday's
Randy Cole and Mack Cramer

Tournament Results:
Miller's
Ferry turned out to be a good tournament with everyone catching fish.
We had 6 limits amongst the 15 club members and 1 guest.
Total fish caught was 49 for a 2.3 fish per person average.
Total weight for the 49 fish was 82.48 pounds for a 1.68 pound
per fish average. The big fish of 5.12 pounds was caught by Jeff Weaver.
We
had 5 more dead fish this time bring our yearly total to 18. I
know one was mine and he had swallowed the hook when I wasn't looking.
I cut the line but he was bleeding so bad he didn't make when I
put him in the livewell. Bill Myrick gave out some Go-juice at
the meeting to help with the fish in the livewell. These are out
hot months so keep an eye on your fish.
AOY Analysis
Our
AOY Race is at the just over halfway with Jeff taking over the
lead by 3 points. We had 5 people advance thier standing with Lee
moving the most by 5 places. Decliners numbered 9. Remeber
you can't improve your standings if you don't fish.
