Minutes of the Meeting:

The July meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 15th of June by our President John Buck. We had 19 members present and prospective member John Schaeff.

Old Business:

A Prospective member vote was conducted at the start of the meeting and John Schaeff was voted into the club unanimously.

Don't you think this fellow looks good in yellow?

Welcome to the club John!

Minutes from last meeting was read and accepted.
The treasury report was read by Jere Jaillite due to Buddy convalescing at home after 3 separate surgeries.  Hope you are getting better and back fishing with us soon.  Anyhow the treasury report was accepted by the membership.

Booray Report: Rolled over from last month with 21 members participating.  See Bill Myrick for details.

50/50 draw was conducted and won by Frank Kelly.

Reservations for Lake Point at Eufula are being worked on by Mack Cramer and he needs a head count of whose intends to go.  They require a deposit that the club will pay up front so it's important we get the count right.  Call or text Mack to let him know your intentions.

Our president John typed up letters to send to the fisheries department disputing the removal of minimum size limits for Florida Bass.   (After catching lots of 10 - 11-7/8" bass on Perdido River it would of helped me....lol)   Contact John if you want to send one of them letters.

New Business:

For those of you that knew and fished with him, John Casic passed this last week.  Here's a link to his memorial page.
www.harpermorrismemorialchapel.com

Pete Potter has officially become a Pensacolian again.   Welcome back to town Pete.  Pete has been a lifetime member with us for a number of years now....lifetime right.

The new boat ramp at Perdido River should be finished in the next 60 days.  The parking promisses to be better than at Seminole Landing.  We'll see how that goes.

**Rule Changes**

If you have any changes to the rules we go by...now is your change to get them submitted.  Deadline for submissions is by the close of business at the August meeting (next meeting) and they need to be in writting.  Just type them up and email them to the secretary or any E-board member.  Include the rule as written...your proposed change and reasons why you want the change.   From there they will get published in the newsletter for September then discussed at the September meeting to be voted on at the October meeting.

From the Tournament Director:

Remember we have 2pm weigh-ins for the June, July and August Tournaments. It's going to be hot so look out after each other and be mindful of the stress on your fish.

Your Alabama fishing license will expire on the 31st of August so remember to purchase one after the 1st of September for it to last a whole year.

Payouts for given for Last Month.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50pm.

Mack Cramer's "From the Tackle Box for August"

For August we find ourselves headed to Hubbard’s Landing, to ask is it going to be hot will not be the question but HOW HOT WILL IT BE. Make sure you plan for the heat, drink plenty of water. Once again Don Jahnke and I will be hosting a hot dog cook out after the weigh in so bring a chair and something cold to drink. Now both Don and I have heard the recommendations and or suggestions that this activity be paid for by the special, No need this is something that Don I came up with and it’s our treat to the club so Hush. Now to the fishing, it’s going to be extremely   difficult, fish just don’t get active when it’s hot so fish slow slow slow , you can increase your chances of catching fish if you fined moving water, normally moving water is a few degrees cooler and that can make the difference.  But no matter what your preference is don’t forget the plastic worm dark in color and fish slow,  and remember respect where others are fishing.

Our Birthday boys for August:    None

As most of you know we have to pay our deposit for our fish off in Oct by the 10 of August  please send me an email letting me know if you plan on going or not.

July Tournament:

The July Tournament was held on the Perdido River out of Seminole Landing.  We caravaned from the Publix on 9 mile road with 9 boats for 17 fishermen. Since it was a July tournament the weigh-in was conducted at 2 pm.  Temperature at 2pm was 97 degrees.  Hot....damm hot!  By the way...with this tournament stop we as a club break the 1000 pounds of fish mark after just 9 tournaments.   Hooyah!

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Lee Brannon

Lee caught a beauty...not Booray beauty...but real close.   Lee's kicker was a 4.63 hawg.  Couple that with 4 other for a 5 fish limit that weighed in at 8.74 pounds.  Not only did Lee win big fish but he also jumped back into the lead in the AOY race.  Easily passing Mack by 9 points to jump 5 points in the lead.

Great Job!

Congrats Lee!

2nd Place
John Buck

From Hero last month to Bridemaid this month John  managed to catch a limit of fish to take the 2nd place spot.  His 5 fish weighed in at 6.16 pounds.  Moves John up a spot in the rankings to take 3rd away from Bill but only by half a point.  This is John's 4 time out of 8 tournaments fished he's been in the money.

Great Job!

Congratulations John!

3rd Place
Marc Churchwell

Marc is back fishing with again and what a great way to start.  He caught 3 fish weighing in at 4.59 pounds to end up in 3rd place.  Welcome back Marc.  Ironically he also took all our golf ball money away from us.

Great Job!

Congratulations Marc!

4th Place
Tony Boyett

Tony rounds out our top 4 with a limit of fish weighing in at would you beleive it....4.24 pounds!  (Are you sure they were all over 12 inches....lol)   I'm pretty sure this may be a record of the smallest limit weighed in by a club member.  His big fish kicker was a .97 pound brute.  This is Tony's second time this year in the money fishing 5 tournaments.  (PS....if you'd pose for one good picture....I wouldn't have to use pictures of your bad side.)

Great Job!

Congratulations Tony!

AOY Analysis

This month we had 8 members advance their positions while 15 declined. Biggest factor on the declines was not participating and having someone way far in the back fish to jump over all the non fishers.  Biggest mover was Marc Churchwell jumping 6 spots from the rear to the 24th spot.  We also had a lead change as Lee took back the lead from Mack.  We know Lee....Mack was just keeping your spot warm for you.  Lee has been leading in 5 out of 9 months.  Mack has lead 3 and Bill Myrick lead the first one of the season.  In second place is Mack with a 22.5 point lead on 3rd place and only 5 points behind Lee.  It looks like it's going to be a good battle between Lee and Mack to see who takes over in the end for Angler of the Year.
3rd place is now being held by John Buck by only a half point lead over Bill Myrick who sits in 4th place.  Both these guys are 11 points ahead of Jeff Weaver and Jere Jaillite who are tied for 5th with 119 points each.

CO-AOY Analysis:

On the Co-Angler of the Year side of things Matt Brown remains in the first place Gold position.  Dave Dyess also stays put in the second place Silver spot but Marion Johnson caught some nice fish to make his appreance in the Bronze position.   Matt still has a 23 point lead in the Co-Angler of the year race.

Also Fished:

Don Jahnke, John Schaeff

We have a new smallest fish of the year!  Matt Brown brought one in smaller than Dave Dyess' .96 pounder.  Matt's was .92 pounds!

As mentioned earlier, Tony has the limit on small fish....his 5 fish limit weighed in at 4.24 pounds.   I'm sure one of them weighed less than Matt's   In fact if you take Matt's fish and multiply it by 5 and you would get 4.6 pounds which is still heavier than Tony's limit.  Tony's big fish was .97.   I guess Tony's fishing from the "Ladies Tees' now.  Good job Tony!   A limit is a Limit!
