Minutes of the Meeting:
The March meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at
7:00 P.M by our President John Buck. We had 23 members present and one
returning guest, Warren Jaillite, brother of our 2014 defending AOY
Champion Jere Jaillite. According to some sources Warren has taught
Jere everything Jere knows.
Old Business:
Jeff's little humor was missing this meeting so we just
muddled through it, the meeting that is.
Minutes from last meeting was read and accepted.
The treasury report was also read and accepted by the membership.
Booray Report: Big enough to report to the IRS if won by someone at
Seminole.
50/50 draw was conducted and won by Buddy Yates.
The new Perdido River Ramp is delayed....stay tuned for further updates.
Cookout sign-up reminders were given for March tournament.
New Business:
If you were going to Seminole you needed to have a Georgia Fishing
License....remember if you get a ticket you are disqualified.
A thank you from the President: "Club cooperation is what makes the
club move forward and everybody is doing a good job."
From the Tournament Director:
So far so good....only 1 dead fish to prior to the meeting.
Maintenance Tips: Good idea to keep a pair of jumper cables
in the boat just in case.
Payouts were given: Congrats to last months Top Four!
Meeting adjourned at 7:35pm so those of you that got home late...your
busted.
From the Tackle Box for April
Boy
I tell ya it’s really going to be hard to top last month’s tournament
at Seminole but I have seen Jordan produce well and I mean produce, I
recall a tournament there than took 25 pounds just to be in the top 6
and 20 pounds to be in the top 10, let’s hope that this will be the
case for Jordan. The key to Jordan is moving water, spots love it
when they are pulling water, if so rattle traps, crank baits, and yes
even Alabama rigs are good. Speaking of Alabama rigs, contrary to what
you might have heard I have found no evidence to show that this bait
has been banned. There have been tournaments that have banned it, but
the state of Alabama has not, so we will go by state law. I have also
found that top water bites are good and also spinner baits, of course
the ole trusted and tried worm is excellent , me I like green pumpkin,
watermelon red and green pumpkin blue on a shaky head. No matter
what your pleasure you can catch fish on Jordan. Find the moving water
along with wood and you will do fine. Remember be safe on the water and
respect where others are fishing.

Lake Seminole Tournament:
The
March Tournament was a two day event held on Lake Seminole at
the Seminole Lodge Landing. Turned out to be a real nice
weekend as the rain held off until the drive home. See John's
tournament report for more detailed weather conditions. For
the tournament we had 18 club members willing to pay the expense for
the two day trip in hopes of catching a Booray fish. So 18
divided by 2 = 9 boats of which everyone found fish one day or the
other.
Looking through the records for Lake Seminole it apprears we had a
record year for the club. For 15 out of the last
19 years the club has fished Lake Seminole mostly in March.
This year we caught the most fish 127 weighing the most
weight at 314.62 lbs. Our Tournament winner Buddy Yates had
the heaviest 2 day total for 30.47 pounds. Collectively we
caught 17 limits on fish during both days but unfornatley we managed to
have 13 dead fish. Even though Buddy's stringer of 18.12
pounds was impressive....Jere's 21.84 pounds caught in 2009 still holds
the record. Also Buddy's whopper of a big fish was not the
biggest caught by a club member there it was Dave Dyess in 2005 with a
8.25 brute.

AOY Analysis
Okay on the Yearly standings we had 10 members advance their positions
while 15 members decline. The majority of the declining
members where members who didn't show up to the tournament.
You can't advance if you don't participate!
Our biggest mover was Roger Helm who jumped 10 spots. (see it helps if
you fish). Next was Thom Labelle who jumped up 5 spots
propelled by his 4th place finish.
Our current points leader is Lee Brannon but he better watch out
because his lead his decreasing from a 5 point lead to just 2 points.
Lee was the only other person besides the top four to bring
in double limits of fish but he was plagued by dead fish penaltys.
Might want to add a spare live well pump to that list of
backup items to carry. How about a spare hub too as Lee also
spun a prop on Sunday. Before we know it we'll be bringing a
whole other boat with us as backup. They do that in NASCAR
don't they.
In second place for AOY points we see a change...Jeff drops down while
Mack jumps up gaining 6 points on Lee to be just 2 points back.
Bill Myrick jumps up one place to take over 3rd. Bill was
just out the money in 5th for the tournament with 9 fish weighing in at
24.53 pounds.
Cliff Armstrong also jumps up one spot to settle in at 4th just 6
points behind 3rd.
Falling from 2nd place down to 5th is Jeff Weaver. Jeff
finished 13th in the tournament with 14.37 pounds anchored by a nice
6.57 pound Hawg caught on you guessed it....a black trick worm.
Rounding out the Top Six is Jere Jaillite who caught some very
respectable fish just not enough of them. His 4 fish weighed
16.69 pounds for a 4.17 pound average.
Onward to the Tournament Results:
Tournament Results:
1st Place
Buddy Yates
Buddy Yates found some real nice fish during both days of the
tournament. On Saturday he weighed in a limit of fish
weighing 12.35 pounds then went out on Sunday and wacked them with a
limit of 18.12 pounds. His 10 fish total toppled the scales
at 30.47 pounds! His kicker fish on Sunday was a whopping
7.85 pounds! Rumor has it his fish on Sunday were all caught
before 7:30am. If so...good job keeping them fish alive for
the 1pm weigh in. He probably spent all day looking at them
in
his live well.
Great Job!
Congrats Buddy!
2nd Place
Mack Cramer
Mack had two solid days of fishing also. He brought in limits
both days. Combining 14.34 pounds on Saturday with 13.53
pounds on Sunday his total weight was 27.87 pounds. That
means his 10 fish weighed an average of 2.787 pounds each and looking
in the basket...they sure were pretty!
Great Job!
Congratulations Mack
3rd Place
Roger Helm
Roger made his presence known that he is still our
brother from another mother. He also caught limits
both days with 15.54 pounds on Saturday to lead the club into Sunday
where he picked up another 11.86 pounds to settle into 3rd place.
Roger's total weight was 27.40 pounds even after a .4 pound
penalty for 2 dead fish. Rumor has it that Mack invited him
to fish his spot with him in which Roger almost beat him.
Talk about sportsmanship! Roger real nice to see
you again and good luck on the house building.
Great Job!
Congratulations Roger!
4th Place
Thom Labelle
Rounding
out the top 4 is Thom who also had double limits. His 5 fish
on Saturday went 14.05 pounds combined with 5 fish on Sunday of 13.05
pounds totaled 27.10 pounds. Wow you had to catch 27 pounds
to make it in the Top Four! Thom's average was 2.71 pounds
per fish!
Great Job!
Congratulations Thom!
CO-AOY Analysis:
On the Co-Angler of the Year side we still have Matt Brown leading the
pack of non-boaters maintaining his Gold position. Matt put
in a good showing this tournament with 9 fish weighing in at 18.26
pounds for a 2.02 pound average. Matt's just 2 points shy of
the Top Six sitting in 7th overall but has a 14 point lead over the
Silver Co-Angler.
Taking over the Silver position is Carlito Silvania who finished 9th
place with 8 fish weighing 18.96 pounds after penaltys. He
fished with Lee and his broken live well.
Now holding the Bronze position is Dave Dyess who jumps up ahead of Jim
Bailey and Frank Kelly in the non-boater category. Dave
finished 7th with 8 fish weighing 19.82 pounds. His
stringer was anchored on Sunday with a whopper 6.18 pound Hawg.
