Minutes of the Meeting:

The December meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters was brought to order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 19th of December by our President John Buck. We had 24 members present and 1 guest. Carlito's daughter Elania being our guest.

Old Business:

A vote was conducted to accept Kevin Murphy as a member. It passed unanimously.

Welcome to the Club Kevin!

Minutes from the last meeting was read and accepted.

The treasury report was read by Buddy Yates and also accepted by the membership.

50/50 draw was conducted and won by Carlito.

Booray Report: The Booray is being run by Buddy Yates and he handed out the rules for us to follow. No one won it last month so it rolls over for this month. Unfortunately no one won it at Fish River either so it will roll again for the January tournament.
See Buddy for more details.

Awards Banquet

The Award's Banquet was a great success. Good food, Good people and Good fun. Thanks to all those involved who made it happen. Jeff your presentation was great again this year...I can't wait to see what you come up with for next year. Congrats to all those who received awards this year and to the ladies who won the gift cards. If you said you were going and didn't make it to the banquet you missed out on a good time...but you still need to pay the treasurer.

New Business:

The new ramp on Perdido River isn't open yet.  Expect it soon.

With the new season starting John passed out a signup sheet for the cookouts.  Be sure to get your name on a duty as it takes a village to make it happen.

From the Tournament Director:

Mack is still negotiating with the owners of Bay City in Apalachicola so we can stay there during our Year End Fish Off. Rooms are cheaper but we'd have to make a commitment to eat, gas and ice there on the premisses.

No dead fish 2 tournaments in a row!  Good job guys.

Birthdays for the Month of December was Jim Bailey, Sr.  Congrats on another milestone!

Payouts were given for the November tournamant.

The draw was conducted for the December tournament.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:51pm.

 Tournament:

The December Tournament was held over at Fish River in Alabama.   We had 22 anglers fishing out of 11 boats that were brave enough to tackle the 34 degree  air temp.  Coldest day we've had since last February.  We also had high pressure clear blue skys.  What better way to start a Hawg Hunter Tournament.  Even the tide was in our favor as it starting coming back in around 10am.

Okay on to the results:

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Mack Cramer

Mack was part of an elite crowd who brought in a limit of fish.  Only 2 people brought in limits.  Mack's limit tipped the scales at 6.94 pounds.  This is Mack's first trip to the winners circle this season...but I'm sure it won't be the last.  He is the defending champion 2015 Angler of the Year.

 Great Job!

Congrats Mack!

2nd Place
John Buck

John caught 4 fish weighing in at 4.81 pounds.  Fishing his 1st tournament this year and he's coming on strong.  In fact John's excellent guide service enabled his boat to also bring in the most weight.  Combining his partner's 3 fish John's boat total was 7 fish for 8.89 pounds.  His 2nd place finish jumps him up in the standings from tied for last to 7th place.

Great Job!

Congratulations John!

3rd Place
Jeff Weaver

Jeff was the other elite angler to bring in a limit of fish.  His limit weighed in at 4.75 pounds.  That averages out to less than a pound per fish...but still good enough to capture 3rd place.  Okay...2 times in the money with just 2 tournaments fished.  One more time and his entry fees for the season will be paid for in winnings.

Great Job!

Congratulations Jeff!

4th Place
Cliff Armstrong

Rounding out the top 4 is Cliff who brought in 3 fish weighing 4.71 pounds.  His weight helped by a 2.03 pound kicker fish that took Big Fish honors.

Great Job!

Congratulations Cliff!

AOY Analysis

With 2 tournaments down and 10 to go we are seeing a lot of movement in the standings race.  But one thing is for sure...you have to catch fish to remain at the top.  Jeff is certainly doing that.  His first place win last month coupled with his third place this month give him the points to be ahead of the pack by 2 points.  For the rest of us....he's not that far ahead yet but we'll need to step it up a notch to stay competitive with him.

Moving up to second place is Mack Cramer fresh off his win at Fish River.  He jumped from 5th to 2nd.

Randy Cole caught a fish this time but not enough weight to it so he slides down the leader-board one slot to 3rd place.  However there is starting to get a big gap between 2nd and 3rd place by a whopping 11 points.  Also bringing his boat Randy took himself out of the CoAngler category.

Jere Jaillite slides down a slot also into 4th place.  Pretty good considering he skunked this tournament.

Jumping up to 5th place is our very own El Presidente John Buck who finished 2nd this month.  He was at the bottom of the pack because he choose to deer hunt last month instead of fishing with us.  We are still waiting for the vension sausage.

Last month we had a large tie in the standings for 6th place.  Infact everyone who skunked last month and wore their club shirt.  Well Dave Bock managed to pull it out and break the tie.  He finished 5th this month which put him just one point behind 5th place.

And there you have it the Top Six after two tournaments.  Whole lot of fishing left this season but one thing is for sure...you have to show up and catch fish to stay in the hunt for the title.

CO-AOY Analysis:

On the Co-Angler of the year side of things lots of movement going on with members dropping out by bringing their boats and our non boater catching fish.  Leading the pack this month is Cliff Armstrong who is actually a boater but he hasn't brought it yet.  Cliff is currently sitting in 5th place for the club and 1sp place for Co-Angler of the Year.
In the second Silver Slot is Carlito who jumped up from tied in 14th for coming to the meeting last month to 10 th place this month by catching 4 fish weighing 3.94 pounds for a 6th place finish.
Rounding out the top three in this category is Frank Dodge who also caught fish this tournament.  Frank is sitting in 12th place overall but holding the Bronze position in the Co-Angler of the year race.
Funny all 3 of these guy used to be boaters.  Guess that's another way to make it to the top....leave your boat at home.

Slammer nominee

I would like to thank everyone for voting me, Dave Bock in to receive the coveted Slammer Award.  It looks great with all the other wooden decor in my home.

I would like to point out to Dan Nash that is has a clock on it...so it might help him to show up on time to the tournaments.
If you hear of see anything that would be a great nomination for the Slammer Award be sure to get your story told and the nomination submitted.  Already starting out to be a great year for some of us.
