Minutes of the Meeting:
The March meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to
order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 16th of February at Founaris Bros.
Greek Restaurant by our President
John Buck. We had 23 members present and 3 guests. Carlito brought 2 of
his
daughters this time. Alania and Alisa. Getting to be quite the family
affair. We also had a prospective member Herman Allday.
Old Business:
Minutes from the last meeting was read and accepted.
The
treasury report was read and accepted.
The 50/50 draw was conducted and won by Tony Boyett.
Booray Report: The Booray pot was awarded to Michael Johnson for his
4.44 pound fish he caught at Fish River. So the pot starts over with 23
members paid up to date. The weight also goes up to 4.5lbs in order to
win. Not a problem when Lake Seminole is the next tournament on the
schedule. See Buddy for details.
A recommendation to have all new prospective members fish with the
Tournament Director was brought before the club and a discussion was
held. E-board will meet prior to April Meeting to discuss adding the
proposal to the SOP.
New Business:
Don't forget you Georgia Fishing License for fishing Lake Seminole.
Dave Dyess volunteered to get the Burgers and Brats for the March
Tournament at Lake Seminole.
Thanks Dave!
From the Tournament Director:
Don Jahnke will be acting tournament Director for the Miller's Ferry
Tournament in May.
Recommend you bring with you a 100 foot of line/rope at least 1/2"
thick in case someone ever needs to pull you off a sandbar.
Even if you don't think it will happen to you at least we can
help Lee out on his next occasion.
Payouts were given for the February tournament. Congrats to all those
who received a payout!
The draw was conducted for the March tournament.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:46pm.

Tournament:
The
March Tournament was held at Lake Seminole where we had 18 members and
1 guest fishing. The weather started out overcast with light
drizzle before the launch to blue sky's with lots of wind by the Sunday
Weigh-in. I doubt in the history of the club that we have
ever had two days of fishing that were ever the same. He who
adapts to the changing weather conditions usually wins the tournamment.
Some of us do great one day then bust the next.
Right Don? Anyway we had 10 boats for the 2-day tournament.
Call it 11 if you count Mack's boat sitting on the
trailed with a bent prop shaft
At the weigh-in in true Seminole fashion we had some Hawgs weigh-in.
Had some Skunks too...and a Catfish!
.....and the winner is......
Tournament Results:
1st Place
Matt Brown
Matt had two great days of fishing. His first day total of
10.02 pounds coupled with his second day of 13.34 pounds gave him a
total weight of 23.36 pounds for his 9 fish. This is Matt's
first 1st place win in our club since joining last season.
Jumps him up from 13th to 9th place on the standings.
Way to go Matt!
Great Job!
Congrats Matt!
2nd Place
Jeff Weaver
Jeff had a good weekend too. His 5 fish limit of 9.33 pounds
Saturday couple with his 4 fish of 12.59 pounds weighed a total of
21.92 pounds. Did you know Matt and Jeff fished together all
weekend catching over 45 pounds of fish! Awesome!
Great Job!
Congratulations Jeff!
3rd Place
Don Jahnke
Don wowed us all on Saturday when he weighed in the 4 fish he caught.
The scales moaned and then spit out a whopping 17.08 pounds!
For just 4 fish! His kicker ...would you beleive
was a 8.42 pound Brute! Everyone thought he was gonna
win...but the conditions changed and Don's bite went sour bring in only
one fish on Sunday. But he only slipped two spots to take 3rd
over all in the tournament.
Great Job!
Congratulations Don!
4th Place
Dave Dyess
In 4th is Dave Dyess who brought 8 fish up to the scales over the two
day tournament weighing 18.30 pounds. Dave had a limit on
Saturday with a 5.70 pound kicker. Not the biggest fish of
the day but definetly worthy of oh's and ah's by the crowd.
Great Job!
Congratulations Dave!
AOY Analysis
5 tournaments down 7 to go! Here's the current
shake down of the top six anglers. On the whole we
had 13 advance thier position while 15 members declined.
Still on top but not by much is Mack Cramer. Last month's 7
point advantage decreased to 3 points this month.
Rumor has it Mack will be missing a tournament in May so
someone may have an opportunity to jump ahead.
2nd place is still being held by Jeff Weaver. Jeff's second
place this month did him well. He now has a commanding 14
point lead over 3rd place.
Jere Jaillite jumps up 2 places from 5th to 3rd after his 5th
place finish at Seminole. Jere was the only one to double
limit during the March tournament. Good job Jere!
Sliding down one slot to 4th place is John Buck just 2 points behind.
Advancing 2 slots from 7th to 5th is Don Jahnke just 1 point behind 4th
and 3 points ahead of 6th.
Dropping back 2 slots to our 6th place position is Dave Bock.
CO-AOY Analysis:
We have the same top 3 Co-Anglers as last month just shuffled in
positions. Carlito is in the #1 gold position while Cliff
takes over the #2 Silver spot making Jim drop to the #3 Bronze
position. Jim's only 4 points ahead of the rest of the
Co-Anglers so it's still anybody's guess as to how it will all fall out
at the end of the season. 7 more tournaments to go!
March's Booray Winner
Don Jahnke
8.42 pounds
Don really brought in a Hawg! The biggest fish this season
and the biggest in his lifetime. Unfortunately the fish
didn't survive the ordeal but now Don gets to mount it for is wall.
Going back through 18 years of electronic records
this is Don's 3 showing for Big fish of the year and the biggest one
the club has documented. Can you beat him? He
pushes out Dave Dyess who had a 8.25lb in 2005.
Congrats Don!
Booray Worthy
Mack Cramer
5.94 pounds
Mack took big fish honors on Sunday with this beauty.
Matt Brown
5.73 pounds
Dave Dyess
5.70 pounds
Roger Helm
5.27 pounds
Dave Bock
5.12 pounds
This is Dave's biggest Bass he has ever caught.
Yellow Ball Winner
Pete Potter
Even though we skipped him in the draw Pete showed us all he is a force
to be reckoned with by pulling the Yellow Ball. Congrats Pete!
Slammer nominee
On the Slammer nominee side...can you nominate someone for driving his
boat outside the clearly marked lanes of Lake Seminole while
on
plane. Even if you hit something and bend your prop
shaft....sure
why not! I nominate Mack! But I would also like to
mention
what a good sport our new prospective member Herman Allday is for
trusting Mack to borrow his boat and not do it again.
