order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 19th of November by our Vice
President Buddy Yates. We 21 members present and 2 guests. One was
Elania Silvania daughter of club member Carlito and the other was Kevin
Murphy a prospective new member.
Old Business:
Minutes from last meeting was read and accepted.
The
treasury report was read by Buddy Yates and accepted by the membership.
50/50 draw was conducted and won by a long time no see member
Rick Howard. Maybe we'll get to see more of him this season.
Monies collect from the 50/50 go into the special fund to pay
for special things like the cookouts so please participate.
If you have any ideas on how to extract more money from
our members or a way for our club to make money bring them to
the E-board's attention. No we are not doing naked
carwashes......
Awards Banquet
The annual Award Banquet is fast approaching and will be held at
Sonny's Barbeque on Friday night December
18th at 6:00pm. It
promises to be a good time as many people are involved setting it up.
Cost will be around $17 per person. We
took a head count of those members present but still need to lock down
an exact number of people going as we will get charged on the number of
people intending to go. If you say your going and then you
don't show we will expect you to still pay.
New Business:
The rule changes voted in during the October meeting have
been updated in our records. Links to the 2016 Rules are on
the front page of our website.
Booray Report: The Booray was won once again last month by
Matt Brown so are going to start over. This time with new
rules by a new person in charge. for now these are the rules
we were able to pin Buddy down with.
Booray Pot Rules
1. $2 per month per person will be added each month no one
meets the minimum weight set by Rule number 3 for a
total of $24 per season. Payable up front.
2. You may join anytime as long as you backpay the $2 per
month that the pot has not been won.
3. To win the pot you must catch a
bass over 4
pounds. Once that occurs the size required to win
will then
be increased to 5 pounds. Then again to 5.5 pounds.
When someone wins it after the 5.5 pound minimum was set it
will reset back to 4 pounds to start over again.
4. If more than one fish is caught over the minimum weight during a
tournament then the largest one of the tournament will win.
5. The Club's dead fish penality of .2 pounds will be applied if the
fish's life has expired as determined by the tournament director..
Buddy did mention that he also reserves the right to make up the rules
as we go. At the start of the November tournament we have 16
members participating and looking to find a 4 pound minimum bass.
From the Tournament Director:
Mack gave us his thoughts on his recent visit to a B.A.S.S Open
tournament. In his words..."we are not too far
off for how we conduct our weigh-ins."
This is a new season so we start over on the dead fish count.
Way too many dead fish last year...lets all get better at it
this year.
Florida fishing licenses are still required unless you are matured past
the age of 65 if you are a resident.
Motel reservations have been made for all the two day tournaments
except Apalachicola. Still working that one out.
These are for Friday and Saturday nights. If you go
up early on Thursday then you need to contact Mack for further
arrangements.
Birthdays for the Month of November were Carlito, Glenn and
Buddy....Hope you got everything you wished for.
Remember to make it easier at the scales once the tournament director
as weighed in your total fish take all your fish out
EXCEPT your biggest one so he can weigh big fish in an effort
to minimize ties.
Payouts were given for the October tournamant and annual fish-off.
Great job to all those who made it in the money.
Remember the Fish Off pays 10 places and to be eligible you have to
have fished at least 6 tournaments during the season. Make
plans now to attend each and every tournament.
The draw was conducted for the November tournament.
Meeting adjourned at 8:17pm.
Prospective Hawg Hunter
Kevin Murphy
Kevin
is from Orange Beach and is currently employed as a tow boat captain.
He's an avid bass fisherman who loves to fish. He came
with us to Claiborne as a guest and would of finished 3rd place had he
already been a member. Try not to hold that against him as he
wishes to join our club and fish some of our tournaments as a
non-boater.
Tournament:
The
November Tournament was held over in Alabama on Lake Claiborne.
We started here last year too but this time we went to the
southern end and launched out of Isaac Creek Landing. We had
13
members and our guest Kevin Murphy fishing out of 7 boats. At
blast off only 4 made it on time as Lee led his caravan of 3 boaters on
a senic tour in the dark. Lee you should of turned to the
left
following Hwy 41 in Monroeville instead of right.
The
water on Claiborne was high, muddy and in the main river flowing fast.
High enough it was going over the spill way at the lower dam.
It was a tough tournament to fish as you will see by the
tournament results. But you put the world famous Hawg Hunters
on
the water and someone is bound to get lucky and catch a fish.
Okay on to the results:
Tournament Results:
1st Place
Jeff Weaver
Jeff was the only one to catch more than one fish except our guest
Kevin. Jeff caught 3 fish for a total weight of 3.87 pounds.
He also was the only one to maintain the First Place
standing everyone started with coming into the tournament.
Can
you guess what color worms he used?
Great Job!
Congrats Jeff!
2nd Place
Randy Cole
Randy brought in the big fish of the tournament with a 2.72
pounder. Big enough to find himself in second place for the
Year!
Of course we just started but at least he didn't drop like a
rock
in the standings like the rest of us.
Great Job!
Congratulations Randy!
3rd Place
Jere Jaillite
Jere managed to catch a keeper also. He's fish weighed in at
2.12
pounds big enough to take 3rd place. As you can see in the
picture he's proud of that fish which is more than the rest of us
caught.
Great Job!
Congratulations Jere!
4th Place
Buddy Yates
Rounding out the top 4 is Buddy with his 1 fish weighing 1.40 pounds.
In the picture it really looks heavier than that.
Look at
how it pulls his shoulder down.
Great Job!
Congratulations Buddy!
AOY Analysis
Well with the start of the season we have new people in the top six
spots....in fact lots of people! Since we only had 5 people
catch
fish in the tournament they of course filled in the top 5 slots.
The 4 mentioned above and Mack who brought in a squeaker fish
of
.99 pounds. As for 6th place we have a 6 way tie!
And all
we had to do was fish the tournament and wear our club hat and shirt.
Hooyah! Congrats Cliff Armstrong, Jim Bailey Sr.,
Dave
Bock, Frank Dodge, Pete Potter, and Terry Smith. Those Hat
and
Shirt points matter. Lee didn't wear his so he missed out on
1
point which by the way was all he need last year to win Angler of the
Year.
CO-AOY Analysis:
Leading the pack of Co-anglers is our very own Randy Cole who was won
of the lucky ones to catch a fish at Claiborne. In fact he
was the only non-boater to catch a fish during the tournament.
All the other non-boaters who fished the tournament
are now presently tied for the Silver position. Then there
is everyone else who attended the meeting but didn't fish...they are
tied for the Bronze position.
Slammer nominee
We probably need to vote on this as to the whether or not a slammer
nomination should be given. Seems through no fault of his own
Dave Bock ran over an under water log while pre-fishing on Friday.
He hit it hard enough he threw off his upper cowling which
found it's own way to the bottom of the river.
Luckily he
didn't spin a prop so he was able to make it back to the ramp.
I
say no....because I didn't do anything stupid like falling off the boat
trailer at the launch ramp ass planting in the water.
On
a different note....how about Lee Brannon leading a caravan on a wild
goose chase. Seems he turned right in Monroeville and ended
up
driving up Hwy 21 all the way up to Beatrice before he figured it out.
Turns out he was late for blast off as a result and the
others
who followed him.
