We will vote for the proposed changes at the next meeting coming up in October.  We have 15 members with more than 6 tournaments fished prior to the meeting who are eligible to vote.   Remember by our Constitution it takes 2/3's of the eligible members present to pass a change.

All those changes turned in can be found here by following this link.

Nominations for E-board so far as follows.

Returning E-board members:

President : John Buck
Secretary : Dave Bock
Tournament Director : Mack Cramer
Asst. Tournament Director: Matt Brown

New Nominee's:

Vice President : Jere Jaillite
Tournament Director: Jeff Weaver

Nominations are still being accepted all the way up to the October meeting when the vote will be conducted.

New Business:

A motion to clarify the Special Fund by the E-Board as to what the fund is spent for was accepted and seconded.  The motion carried unanimously and the E-board has it for action.

A very lively discussion on the rule changes kept everyone entertained for the lengthly meeting but hopefully everyone got a chance to voice their opinion and even more discussion took place during the two day tournment to Lake Mitchell.

The Hawg Hunters would like to personally thank Katy Woodside and Nicole Balk from Panama City Fish and Wildlife along with Neil Branson from the Blackwater Hatchery for their special presentation on the new Florida Catch/Keep rules.

Notes from the meeting were:

1.  In order to keep more than one Large mouth bass over 16 inches in the state of Florida during a tournament you have to have a permit called a Bass Tournament Exemption.
2.  The permit allows an exemption to bass size limits, when the requirements and conditions of the permit are met.
3.  Lake Seminole and Perdido River were exempt from the 16" size limit because they share waterways with other states.
4.  Spotted bass still have a 12" minimum.  Only Largemouth are affected.
 5.  Tournaments with six or more anglers require an exemption permit.
6.  .25 ounce penality for dead fish.
7.  Live wells are to be inspected for operation by the tournament director prior to the start of the tournament.

For more information on the rules see the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commision webpage. myfwc.com

From the Tournament Director:

Remember we are back to the Saturday 4pm weigh-ins and the Sunday 1pm weigh-ins for September and October.

Check your fire extinguisher in your boat.

Thanks to Mack, Don and Jere for hosting the Hot Dog and Chilli Cookout at the August Tournament.

Payouts were given for the August tournament. Congrats to all those who received a payout!

The draw was conducted for the September tournament.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.

Tournament:

The September Tournament was held up north on Lake Mitchell out of Higgins' Landing.  Even though it was North of us...it still was hot but at least we didn't have any rain until the return trip home.  We put 9 boats on the water carrying 17 members and one guest Keith Ford of Jacksonville.
Beings as it was a two day tournament once again boaters and boaters got paired up.  Seems our out of town tournaments always get short on non-boater participation.  Anyway a great time was had by all and Lee Brannon along with Dave Nason cooked us up a splendid feast of Mullet and fries.  So good they were nominated to do it again next year if we can find someone willing to tote/store the fish cooker.
With this tournament we as a club have now caught over 1000 pounds of fish during the season!

Hooyah!...on to the results!

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Roger Helm

Oops! He did it again....Roger once again wins our September Tournament.  Just like last year Roger found them and loaded the boat.  His two day total of 9 fish tipped the scales at 18.58 pounds.  He lead day one and managed to keep the lead until the second day which turned out to be tougher for all of us.  Roger even found the tournament Big Fish Winner a 4.45 pound Hawg on Saturday.

Way to go Roger!

Great Job!

Congrats Roger!

2nd Place
Jeff Weaver

Jeff seems to be always in the money slots and this month is no different.  His 10 fish double limit weighed in at 18.54 pounds.  Just .04 pounds behind Roger.  thats only a little more than 1/2 an ounce.  Of note would be Roger had 2 dead fish and almost cost him th win.  Where Roger caught all Largemouth bass Jeff managed to catch all spotted bass fishing different areas and techniques.  Can you guess what color worm he caught them on?  Come to the meeting to find out!
Anyway Jeff's bag was anchored by the 3.12 pound spot shown in the picture above.

Great Job!

Congratulations Jeff!

3rd Place
John Buck

John fished with Roger and did good enough to take 3rd place with his 9 fish weighing in at 14.59 pounds.  So together John and Roger brought in 18 fish 33.17 pounds for the best boat of the tournament.  John had second place Big Fish on Saturday with the 4.02 pound largemouth he's holding up in the picture.  The story goes that Roger caught his Big fish and before Roger could get it into the livewell John caught his.  Sounds like fun!

Great Job!

Congratulations John!

4th Place
Pete Potter

Rounding our our top 4 is Pete Potter who also caught double limits of fish.  His 10 fish tipped the scales 14.59 just .06 pounds behind John.  This time Pete's one dead fish pictured above cost him one position as he was penalized .2 pounds dropping him to 4th place.  Still getting a check but not one IRS worthy.
Pete should also get an honorable mention for being the only person who has fished every tournament this season.  Great Participation!

Great Job!

Congratulations Pete!

AOY Analysis

We have a Winner already in the AOY Race!

Congrats goes out to JEFF WEAVER who has officially locked himself into the top spot.  He now has a 28 point lead over 2nd Place which means it's impossible for anyone to beat him as only 21 points are given for a first place finish in a two day tournament.
Jeff doesn't even have to go to the Fish-Off!  Take the tournament off....You've earned it!
Jeff has had an impressive season.   He has only fished 10 tournaments but did real well in all of them.

4 - 1st Place
2- 2nd Place
1 - 3rd Place
1 - 4th Place
2- 5th Place

Amassing 135 "Fishing Points" to date!
Way to go Jeff!

But the race for the top six is not over yet.  It's still to close to call.  Sitting in second place is Mack just 10 points ahead of 3rd place.  If he fishes like he did at Mitchell it could cost him.  Mack needs to be with in 10 place of John to hold onto his 2nd place.   John gained 8 points on him this past tournament so anything is possible.
In 3rd Place is John Buck.  Fininshing ahead of Pete Potter during this tournament allowed him to gain one more point on Pete.  He's now 6 points ahead of 4th Place currently held by Pete.
Staying in 5th Place is Jere Jaillite who didn't attend the meeting or fish the tournament this month.  It drops him 22 points behind 4th Place so the best Jere will do is 5th place this year.  If he fishes the fish off he may even stay in 5th as he has 20 points over the 6th place spot.
Jumping into the top six we now have Lee Brannon in 6th Place.  Last months 6th place Carlito didn't fish with us so he dropped down 2 places to 8th.  Nipping at Lee's heels just 2 points behind him is Dave Bock.  Who'd of thunk it?  Time to step up my game I guess.

So there you have it.....a Winner with Jeff and the rest of the top six still undecided.  Probably come down to the last day.  Are you in?

CO-AOY Analysis:

Our Co-Anglers have been shaken up a bit.  Carlito is still leading the pack but his lead is dwindling away.  He didn't fish this month so Bob and Cliff got a jump on him.  In fact now Bob, after catching 9 fish weighing 12.89 pounds this past weekend, has jump up to 2nd place but is only 11 points away.  If Carlito has any chance of locking this up he will have to come to the Fish-Off and place with-in 11 places of Bob Jones.  Bob's been on fire lately.
Cliff drops down to 3rd place in the CO-AOY standings  just 4 points behind Bob.  It's anybodys guess on how this will shake out but if you've enjoyed the drama of the Co-Anglers you better vote for Buddy's Yates Rule Proposal so we can continue this.
