Minutes of the Meeting:
The February meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to
order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 15th of February at Founaris
Bros.
Greek Restaurant by our President
John Buck. We had 22 members present.
Old Business:
Bill Armstrong our newest member was voted into the club.
Welcome to the club Bill. (And he still denies any
and all relationship to Last month's tournament winner Cliff Armstrong.)
The minutes from the last
meeting were read and accepted.
The
treasury report was read and accepted.
Booray Report: The Booray pot rolled over once again and is now $206
for
a 5.5 pound fish. See Buddy
for details.
This month's 50/50 was won by Michael Johnson.
Remember all proceeds generated from the 50/50 goes towards
feeding us at our out of town tournaments. The more you play
the better we eat!
Ron Bridges is getting better day by day and is greatful for all the
support we've shown him. Keep calling and visiting it's
helping his spirits. Hooyah!
Mucho Thanks goes out to Mack Cramer for his annual Super Bowl party.
He's very gracious when it comes to opening his house to us
during the big game. The food was abundant and even tasted
good.
New Business:
Rule Changes
If you didn't know Rule Changes can be accepted throughout the year.
You don't have to wait till the deadline of August to get
your changes in. Actually the sooner you put them in the more
politicking you can do with other members to try to get it to
pass. It's kind of obvious our solo boater rule needs some
tweaking to cover the thousands of "what if" scenarios only the Hawg
Hunters can dream up of.
We took a vote on Hot dogs or Brats for the March Tournament and the
Brats won so in addition to Hambugers we'll have Brats. If
you really want a wiener...bring one with you.
From the Tournament Director:
Great Job on our success of Zero Dead fish to date. To keep
it up and offer more suggestions Mack showed us a roach clip
looking thingy they use in Mexico to keep the fish from floating
sideways in the well. If is supposed to keep the fish upright
in the well. Just attached it one of their bottom fins.
They are called Fish Clips and here's a link to one seller of the
device.

Boat Insurance....Remember you must have a current and up to date
insurance policy on your boat to be a eligible boater in our club.
Be sure and check that you have at least
$300,000 liability. Turn your policies into the
Assistant
Tournament Director - Matt Brown as they renew. See if you
can
get him to pay the bill too while you are at it.
More milestones have been passed this month. Birthdays for
Dave Dyess & Don Jahnke!
Payouts were given for the January tournament. Congrats to all those
who received a payout!
The draw was conducted for the February Tensaw River tournament.
The meeting was adjourned 7:45pm.
Tournament:
The
February Tournament was held on the Tensaw river at Cliff's Landing.
According to the Weather channel all week we were supposed to
have 80-90% chance of rain. We it did rain.....but only
during
the dark hours of Friday night with just a little drizzle
remaining by the time we met at Publix for the Caravan. The
day
turned out great with overcast skies mixed with sunshine and temps
pushing up into the 70's. I was over dressed with a long
sleeve
shirt, pants, wool socks and boots. Oh well so much for
listening
to the weather guy.
Back
to the tournament....we had 12 boats and 3 empty seats for a total of
21 Hawg Hunters out to catch the elusive Florida Strain Black Bass.
We had 6 limits, 71 fish caught with a combined weight of 101.15 lbs
and
once again NO dead fish. Great job guys!
Tournament Results:
1st Place
Terry Smith
Believe it or not this is Terry's first time winning a Tournament with
the Hawg Hunters. He's been an active member since way back
in
December of 2000.
Terry's
persistence and vast improvement over the years has finally paid off
for him. He brought in a limit of fish weighing 9.47 pounds
all
caught on worms with three of them before 7 am.
Great Job!
Enjoy the spotlight!
Congrats Terry!
2nd Place
Dave Bock
Dave only brought in 4 fish to the scales but they were good enough for
2nd place. His 4 fish weighed in at 9,01 pounds anchored by
the
3.47 pound Big Fish of the Tournament. Since Dave and Terry
fished together I'd say they also won the Boat Total category this
month with 18.48 pounds of fish. Dave's big fish came at
11:20 am
on a Zoom Trick worm fished Slider head style up tight against a log at
GPS spot # 695. His 2nd biggest fish (pictured above) was on
a
spinner bait at GPS spot # 001 on the very next cast after
catching an 18 inch Grennel.
Great Job!
Congratulations Dave!
3rd Place
Pete Potter
Pete's in the top four again this month making it 3 times out
of 4
tournaments so far this year. Pete brought in a limit of 5
fish
that tipped the scales at 7.28 pounds. It's no wonder why
he's
leading the pack in the AOY race.
Great Job!
Congratulations Pete!
4th Place
Michael Johnson
This is Mike's first tournament with us this season and he kicks it off
with a 4th place finish. His 5 fish limit weighed in at 6.80
pounds. Micheal was drawn out as one of our solo boaters this
time so there was no "Spy's" to tell us where he caught his fish.
I'll bet they were all caught in the mouth....lol
Great Job!
Congratulations Michael!
AOY Analysis
With 4 tournaments in the record books things are are still
close in the AOY race. This month we have two ties
in the top six. On the whole we had 8 members advance their
positions while 14 declined with 9 dropping due to non participation.
Your not helping yourself by not fishing.
Okay so maintaining the top spot is Pete Potter who gains 7 more points
for a total of 9 points ahead of second place. If Pete keeps
it up he'll be untouchable.
Also maintaining 2nd place this month is Brian Nall who gained 5 points
this month on 3rd place Jere Jaillite. Jumping up 4 spots to
tie with Jere in 3rd place is Dave Bock. (Hooyah!). Dropping
down 1 slot to 5th is Mack Cramer who caught a limit of fish this month
but only finished 9th in the tournament. He's now sharing 5th
place with Cliff Armstong...imagine that. Cliff has been
doing great this year catching fish in 3 out of 4 tournament fished and
even winning one last month.
So there you have it the top six with ties for 3rd and 5th places.
CO-AOY Analysis:
Brian Nall is gaining more ground in the Co-AOY race as we put another
tournament in the record books. Adding 2 more points he now leads
by 15. Terry Smith jumps up 5 places to take over
the Silver position after winning this months tournament.
Great job Terry. Dropping to the Bronze position is
Bob Jones but he's only 1 point behind Terry.
Great Job Guys!
