Minutes of the Meeting:

The July meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 19th of July at Founaris Bros. Greek Restaurant by our President John Buck. We had 21 members present and two guests  Dave Hall and Pete Mistich..

Old Business:

The minutes from the last waived by the membership.

The treasury report was read and accepted.

Booray Report: The Booray pot now stands at $468 for a 5.5 pound fish.  See Buddy for details.

This month's 50/50 was won by John Schaeff!

John Buck said he was working on the grill but it may end up costing the club some money to get it up to club standards for cooking.  Anybody want to sponsor us?  I'm sure we could get a sticker with your name on it for the grill.    The sticker will be guareenteed to melt during the first use.

(Tony this would probably not be a good place to stick your business name on although everything we eat does go there.)

New Business:

Thom Labelle had ankle surgery so keep him in your thoughts to a speedy recovery so he can fish with us again.

Okay that time of the year again for submitting your changes to our Constitution and Tournamet Rules.  A lot of grumbling going on this season.  Tiime to put your put up or shut up.  Changes, submitted in writing  are due by the close of business at the August meeting.  Then they will be published and discussed during the September meeting to be voted on at the October meeting.   Remember to be eligible to vote you have to have fished 6 tournaments prior to the October meeting.  In other words you only have 2 tournaments to fish to get yourself eligible.

E-board positions are available!  As we close out this tournament season we are looking for a "few good men" to take over duties of the current e-board.  All the positions are available as the current e-board members have been doing the job for the last couple of years.  These positions are not lifetime careers!    Get it a try and get your self nominated to a position of your choice.

From the Tournament Director:

The June tournament had been rescheduled so the results won't be out until after the July tournament.  Payouts for both the June and July tournaments will be given out at the August meeting.

Pairings for the June and July tournament was conducted.

Watch out for the no-wake zones while running.  Breaking the law is grounds for disqualification in our tournaments.

The meeting was adjourned 7:51 pm.

July Tournament:

The July Tournament was held at the Perdido River using the new ramp off hwy 90 called Wilson Robertson Landing.   Right next to the old Ruby's landing.

We all showed up to the landing at zero dark thirty.  It was actually pitch dark as there are no lights at the landing.  Cheap Florida...at least over on the Alabama side they had lighting...just no parking.

We had 20 members and 2 guests Dave Hall and Pete Mistich fishing out of 12 boats.

The weather was hot with no wind most of the morning but turned into rain showers by the time we started the weigh in.  If you went up river past Ruby's I understand there was current but down south towards Hurst Hammock there was no water movement.  Tough day for most as no one caught a limit of fish.   Dave Bock had the most with 4 fish while everyone else had 3 or less.   3 of us caught none.   Dave had a fifth one in the net and in the boat but in a classic blooper move...(not a "slammer") managed to, with the help of his partner, release the 4 Pound plus fish unharmed.  If the cameras were rolling it would of been the "replay of the day".

Our top 4 guys for the tournament all managed to have 1 fish over 3 pounds with Pete catching one over 5 pounds to take Big Fish honors.  5.30 pounds to be exact but not big enough to take the Booray money.  Just .2 pounds or 3.2 oz short.
So no limits and only 18 out of 22 members caught fish.  The total weight was 55.9 pounds for 35 fish.

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Pete Potter

Pete goes from zero to Hero in one day!  After a dismal June tournament he comes back strong with a win during the July tournament.  Of couse for Pete I'm sure it didn't feel that way because we fished the July tournament on Saturday and the June one on Sunday of the same weekend.   Pete's winning weight of 7.62 lbs with only 3 fish was anchored by the tournament big fish of 5.3 lbs.  Great fish...in fact it is now the lunker of the Year!

Great Job!

Congrats Pete!

2nd Place
Buddy Yates

Buddy hasn't fished with us since back in March but he's showing us he still knows how to catch fish.  Especially in his back yard since we fished Perdido River.  His 3 fish weigh in at 6.83 pounds with a 3.40 pound kicker.

Great Job!

Congratulations Buddy!

3rd Place
Bill Armstrong

Bill's back in 3rd again!  Can't keep him out of this place.  His third time in the 6 tournaments he's fished.  All from the back of various boaters.  Seems he's learning quite a bit on how we catch fish down here.  Bill's 2 fish weighed in at 5.34 pounds with one of them being a 4.36 pound brute.  He's been in the money 4 times now matching Pete Potter and Jeff Weaver for most trips to the money slots this season.

Great Job!

Congratulations Bill!

4th Place
Lee Brannon

Lee gets back to back 4th place finishes!  June and July.  Lee managed to catch 3 fish weighing in at 5.13 pounds with his kicker a 3.12 pound beauty.
Lee moves up one spot in AOY points to take over 9th place.  Just 13 points out of the top six with 3 tournaments to go.

Great Job!

Congratulations Lee!

AOY Analysis

Things are heating up as the season is coming close to an end.  Just 3 more tournaments to go!  Here's how we look after 9 tournaments.
Pete Poter gains a little more breathing room with his win.  He increases his lead from just 2 points to 6 points over second place.
Dave Bock manages to stay in the 2nd place spot this month after taking it over in June.  He now commands a 16 point lead over 3rd place Mack Cramer.
Jeff Weaver jumps up one place to 4th just 2 points behind Mack.
Cliff Armstrong also jumps up one place to hold 5th just 6 points behind Jeff.
Brian Nall drops from 4th last month to 6th this month after two tough tournaments for him.
Just 10 points back are 5 other members who could find themselves in the Top Six with the right fish.

CO-AOY Analysis:

The top three Co-Anglers remain the same as last moth but change their postions around.  Brian Nall is still leading the race by 22 points.  Bill Armstrong and Terry Smith trade places with Bill taking over 2nd while Terry drops to 3rd.  Bill and Terry are only 1 point apart so next month that could change again.

Great Job Guys!

Yellow Ball Winner!

John Schaeff wins the golf ball draw!  He also won the 50/50 at the meeting!  Lucky John!    The Golf ball draw consists of about 20 white balls and 1 yellow ball in a bag.  Everyone who weighs in a tournament legal fish gets to put a dollar into the pot for a try at finding the yellow ball.  John says the pot was close to $150 as it hasn't been won in quite some time.
