New Business:
No new business was discussed at the meeting.
Remember
that changes to our club rules are due by the end of the August meeting
to be discussed at the September meeting then voted on at the October
meeting. Get them in now to avoid the rush!
We are coming
up on the months when we fish in the heat. Be
sure to stay hydrated and take care of yourself and your partner if you
have one.
From the Tournament Director:
The June tournament has been rescheduled to take place on Sunday
July 23, 2017 due to unsafe conditions on the Tensaw River.
The
Draw was also rescheduled to take place at the July meeting to be held
Wednesday July 19th.
Payouts were given for the May tournament. Congrats to all those
who received a payout!
The meeting was adjourned 7:31 pm.
June Tournament:
The
June Tournament was held on the Tensaw River out of Live Oak
Landing on Sunday the 23rd of July due to being rescheduled.
High
water in June made it unsafe for us to participate then.
We had 17 Hawg Hunter participating fishing out of 10 boats.
The
weather was warm in the upper 70's at blast off with the temps climbing
to the low 90's by the 1:00pm weighin. A Hot day with no rain
and
hardly any breeze.
14 members caught fish with 3 catching limits but we also had a limit
of dead fish. The two I had swallowed the hook early and just
didn't make it with the heat in the livewells. As a club we
caught 37 fish weighing in at 52.14 pounds with the big fish being
caught by Dave Bock tipping the scales at 4.70 lbs. Great job
Dave!
Tournament Results:
1st Place
Dave Bock
Dave caught a limit of fish early before 8am and started culling at
10am when he caught his big fish of the tournament pictured above.
Culled again at noon then caught a 7 pound 10 ounces Grennel
to
top off his day. His total weight was 9.46 pounds (not
including
the Grennel) after being accessed with dead fish penalities.
This
is Dave's 3rd time this season in the money. He took 2nd
place
twice already during the February and April tournaments.
Great Job!
Congrats Dave!
2nd Place
Tony Boyett
No picture taking Tony Boyett caught a limit of fish
that weighed
in at 6.95 pounds to take 2nd place honors. This is Tony's
second
time in second place this season with the first taking place at the
November tournament.
Great Job!
Congratulations Tony!
3rd Place
Mack Cramer
Mack also found a limit of fish good enough for 3rd place.
His 5 fish weighed in at 6.2 pounds. Believe it or
not this is the first time Mack has finished in the money this year.
He has been consistent though catching fish in every
tournament so far this season. 36 of them to be exact.
Great Job!
Congratulations Mack!
4th Place
Lee Brannon
Lee rounds out our Top 4 with 4 fish weighing in at 5.17 pounds.
This is Lee's second time this season in the money spots.
He should give a thanks to Jim Bailey Sr. because way back
when, the club only paid 3 places. That was until Jim Sr. organized a
majority vote to add the 4th place into the tournament rules.
The talk was Jim Sr. kept coming in 4th place and
never got paid so he got the rule changed. Could the 5th
place finishes organize enough to change it again? We'll
see.....
Great Job!
Congratulations Lee!
AOY Analysis
Alrighty then, eight tournaments down with 4 to go.
The top six be changing! Pete manages to stay in
First place for the AOY standings but his lead has been dwindled down
to just 2 points ahead of Second place.
Dave Bock rockets up into 2nd place fresh off his
win at the June tournamament. Dave has been having
a great year for the record has never been this high in the standings
this late in the season.
Mack jumps up two places to sit at 3rd just 10 points behind Dave.
Brian Nall falls from 2nd to tie Mack in 3rd after a dismal
June.
Jeff Weaver also had a bad tournament and dropped from 3rd to 5th in
the standings. He now has 117 points which is actually just 1
point behind Mack and Brian. Wearing your club hat and shirt
at the weigh-in's really can make a difference in the standings.
Meeting attendance is important too....ask Dave Bock.
He could be First in the AOY standings if not for the 2 club
meetings he's missed because some of us are still young enough to have
to work for a living.
Rounding out the Top 6 is Cliff Armstrong who has been having a great
year too! Just 6 points behind 5th and 5 points ahead of 7th.
CO-AOY Analysis:
In our Co-AOY race we are a little more spread out in the
points. Here's what they
look like:
Gold (1st) - Brain Nall - 118 pts
Silver (2nd) - Terry Smith - 95 pts
Bronze (3rd) - Bill Armstrong - 84 pts
4th - Dave Nason - 82 pts
5th - Bob Jones - 57 pts
The order hasn't changed since last month but Bill is gaining ground on
Terry for the Silver position.
Great Job Guys!
