The minutes from the last meeting were read and accepted.

The treasury report was read and accepted.

Booray Report: The Booray pot is getting bigger each month. Now at $256 for a 5.5 pound fish. See Buddy for details.

This month's 50/50 was won by John Schaeff!

New Business:

The April Jordan tournament will be held from the Boy Scout ramp and we are going to be staying in Wetumpka at the Key West Inn.

The Saturday night meal will be chicken and baked beans.

Parking will be okay if you park half of your rig either the boat or truck on the grass taking up only one parking spot.

From the Tournament Director:

Rule #5e was read out loud to the club and is presented here again for your reading pleasure...

5e. After all the non-boaters have been accommodated in the tournament draw any remaining boaters will have the option to be solo boaters. If there are any boaters remaining who wish to not be a solo boater then they will be drawn as a non-boater with another boater. The club will NOT be responsible for any tournament expenses of "ANY" who opt to be solo boaters. Any boater opting to fish solo will NOT be permitted to bring a guest, however he may be assigned a partner in accordance with rule 6.

No one will be made to fish by themselves.

No conspiracy to make this a boaters club.  We will always accommodate our non-boaters.

Birthday boys are Brian Nall and Herman Allday.

Payouts were given for the February tournament. Congrats to all those who received a payout!

The draw was conducted for the March Lake Seminole tournament.

The meeting was adjourned 7:42pm.

Lake Seminole Cookout

The cookout Saturday nite at the motel was a great success!    Thanks to the cooks Carlito and Dave Nason who ensured the hamburgers and brats were done up right.  Also thanks to Brenda Weaver and Bill Armstrong's finace Kim for the great brownies!  Always a special treat!

March Tournament:

The March Tournament was held at Lake Seminole out of Seminole Lodge Landing for those of us willing to pay $2.   We had 16 members fishing out of 9 boats with 2 solo boaters Buddy and Jeff.

The weather had a big impact on us this time.  Not like it was raining, lightning or wind blowng Hurricane strength but we had post cold front conditions with blue bird skies and no wind.  Temps on Friday morning were in the 30's then Saturday in the 40's and Sunday starting in the 50's.  The wind also picked up over the weekend but the sky stayed clear blue through out.

Real pretty days but the fishing was tough.  In fact we had the smallest winning weight in the past 11 years.  The big fish was also a minnow compared to the last 11 years.  During the past 11 years the person who had the Big Fish also won the Booray pot but not this year.   We didn't even top the 4 pound mark.   Bill Armstrong found the Tournament Big Fish on Saturday with a 3.38 pound Lake Seminole baby bass.
Dave Dyess had it on Sunday with a 2.61 pounder.

We caught a grand total of 64 fish weighing in at 93.65 pounds.  There was only one other year (2006) when we fished it in February and didn't even break the 100 pound mark.  That year we only caught 34 fish for 64.53 pounds.  Interesting to note is that during the 2007 and 2008 tournament years we skipped Lake Seminole all together.   Hearing some grumblings afterwards this time it could very well happen again that we skip Lake Seminole for the next year or so.

As for limits this time out we only had 3 limits caught during the two days.  One limit on Saturday was John Buck and the other two on Sunday were caught by Dave Dyess and Lee Brannon.  Great job guys under those really tough conditions.

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Dave Dyess

Dave's prefish trip paid off for him.  On Saturday he was leading the pack of us with 4 fish weighing in at 6.27 pounds.  Who'd of thought leading on Lake Seminole with only 6 pounds!   That meant we were all just one Booray fish away from the lead starting on Sunday.  But Dave caught them better on Sunday when he caught the biggest stringer of the weekend for 8.96 pounds.  Dave's two day total of 9 fish weighed 15.23 pounds.  3 pounds ahead of the rest of us to take 1st place.

Great Job!

Congrats Dave!

2nd Place
Lee Brannon

Lee caught only 2 fish on Saturday but he came back strong with a limit on Sunday weighing 8.1 pounds to give him a total of 12.21 pounds for 7 fish.  Even though Lee came as a non-boater we still saw him fishing all his favorite Lake Seminole spots.  Oh by the way Lee needs a lot more practice being a non-boater as his skills backing Don's boat down the short ramp left a lot to be desired.

Great Job!

Congratulations Lee!

3rd Place
Bill Armstrong

Bill brought in the biggest fish of the tournment as part of his sack.  It weighed 3.38 pounds to give him a total of 11.12 pounds for the 6 six fish he brought to the scales.  New to the club and already taking our money.  We should of known when he won the 50/50 on his guest night.  AND he survived the weekend fish with Mack.  I guess we could chalk it up to his Army training...lol   Anyway Bill done good...and he even brought triple stack brownines!  Trying to sweeten us old guys up.

Great Job!

Congratulations Bill!

4th Place
Jeff Weaver

Definetly no stranger to the top 4 is Jeff Weaver who weighed in 7 fish weighing 8.50 pounds.   This is Jeff's 3 time taking our money this year but the quality fisherman Jeff has become I'm sure it won't be the last.  Jeff drew out as a solo boater this month and I'm sure it was a long weekend for him as he had no one but himself to operate the trolling motor....lol.

Great Job!

Congratulations Jeff!

AOY Analysis

5 tournaments down with 7 to go!  Where does the season go?   I guess where you are always looking forward to the next one time goes by fast.   In fact after the first day at Seminole I was already looking forward to Jordan in April.
Maintaining his lead in the AOY race is Pete Potter.  However the gap is closing as he is only 7 points ahead now.  Behind him is Brian who maintained his second place position but gained some on 3rd place.  Jumping up into the top six all the way to 3rd is Jeff Weaver courtesy of Jere Jaillite who had more important things to do at home.  Climbing one notch is Mack just 4 points behind Jeff.   Dropping one notch is Dave Bock to sit in 5th place just 2 points behind 4th.
Rounding out the top six we have a tie with Terry Smith and Don Jahnke.  Terry and Don both moving up into the top six spots.  Who will stay?   Well I guess you have to come to Jordan to find out.

CO-AOY Analysis:

Our top 3 Co-Anglers stayed in their spots.  Brian Nall, Terry Smith and Bob Jones.  1,2,3 respectively.  Brian gained 4 more points to increase the gap to 19 points ahead of second place Terry.  Brian scored another 5th place at the tournament his 3rd this season.  I bet he wishes we paid 5 places...lol.  Terry gained 12 points on Bob who fished with us on Saturday but went home early to see to his wife who was having problems with her health.   Keep your prayers and thoughts going out to the Jones' family.

Great Job Guys!

Slammer Nominees:

Although the fishing was tough we still had time for some follies at Lake Seminole deserving of Slammer Award Recognition.

Launching your boat and leaving a tie down strap on doesn't turn too many heads at the ramp anymore.  But, if your a Hawg Hunter and your name is Buddy people tend to pay attention.  It wasn't too bad for him on Saturday he endured just a little bit of ribbing by the club during the pre-blast off hour wait.  Now Sunday, on the the other hand ole Buddy "Strap-on" Yates did it again and the crowd went wild!  I even heard chants of "Slammer Nominee, Slammer Nominee" so here he is nominated for the coveted Slammer Award.

Then there was Terry "Crash" Smith.  He was paired with Pete "Trolling Motor Down" Potter for the tournament.  Terry, after winning his first club tournament last month was so excited to do it again he litterly "threw" Pete and his boat off the trailer into the water.  Normally this too wouldn't be an issue unless you are crooked on the ramp and there is a big o' house boat with a "Welcome Home" sign on it behind you.   Pete didn't even have time to knock on the door of that house boat and ask "What's for Dinner?" before he and his Basscat went barging right in.  Scratch 1 light pole and 1 GPS pod antenna.  Everyone at the ramp started trying to nominate Pete but as things got settled down we all agreed the true nominee goes to Terry "Crash" Smith for making it happen.

Then there was the guy running up the river perfectly balanced on pad.  From a distance it looked like he had very large trim tabs throwing up rooster tails.  As the guy got close, Carlito and I realized it was Don Jahnke and his partner Lee.   Those funny looking trim tabs...turned out to be Don's fancy power poles in the deployed (down) position.  When we asked what he was doing....he said he was "washing them".  It really makes you wonder wehre he and Lee were just fishing to get his poles that dirty that he saw the need to run up the river at 50 plus miles per hour dragging his poles.  At the weigh-in quite a few Hawg Hunters mentioned seeing him pole washing too.  So Don "Pole Washinig" Jahnke gets a nomination also for the Slammer Award.
