Minutes of the Meeting:

The June meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 18th of July at Founaris Bros. Greek Restaurant by Jeff Weaver. We had 22 members present.

Old Business

I was missing at the meeting and didn't get the minutes but lets see if I can paraphrase what happened...

The gathering started around 6pm when some of the guys started showing up.   Don, Frank, Bill, maybe even Cliff and Terry got there early to eat.  then around 6:30pm Jeff, Dave Nason, Pete, Jere Mack, John and John Russell showed with more coming in up until about a minute before 7pm "The Captain" Bob Jones strolled in so the meeting could start.   Dave Nason collected everyone's money..but there was late payers still trying to pay while Jeff was trying to get the meeting started.   It took 2 minutes to get everyone settled down so we could hear Jeff start the meeting.   Then we all laughed at Jeff's little humor with comments like "that was better than last month's".

The minutes were waived since the Secretary was missing and no new business has been discussed in some time.

The treasury report was read and accepted, however no one but past treasurers understand what he's putting out....they just hear numbers.

Booray Report: The Booray pot should have jumped up $48 to now be at $192 since we still have not caught a fish over 5.5 pounds.

Buddy Yates is still the man in charge for the Booray.

This month's 50/50 was won by someone in the club.

New Business:

New Business might have looked like this.....

It's getting close to the end of the season and you need to start thinking about changes to the club rules.   You have until the end of the August meeting to summit those changes in writing so they can be discussed in September and voted on in October by those members who have fished 6 or more tournament this year.

We are also in the market for Club Officers for the 2019 season.  If you are interested speak up and get you name in the hat.
Nominations can be accepted all the way up until the start of the October Meeting when the election will take place.  But it would be real nice to know who is interested so the politics can begin.

From the Tournament Director:

Payouts for the June tournament were handed out.   The top 4 guys who received the payouts in their 2 minutes of fame withheld some vital facts about how and where they managed to catch their fish.

Congrats was given to all those who received a paycheck.
Great job!

The draw for the July Tournament was conducted with lot's of moans and grown's of who got paired.

Drawn out were 12 boaters with 9 Co-Anglers for the July Tournament to be held at Robertson Landing on the Perdido River.

More grumblings about solo boaters and their unfair advantage...

Dave probably mentioned the rash of Dead fish lately and to make sure you have your live wells working properly and to take care of your fish.

Meeting was adjourned sum time before 8:00 pm

July Tournament:

The July Tournament was held at the Perdido River out of Robertson's landing and it pitch dark.   A lot of good the lights were sitting on the pole with the great big solar panels but not even enough power to light the lights.   The rest of the ramp is nice though.
The temps for the day were in the mid 90's with heat indexes into the triple digits around 105 of so.  Luckily is was overcast until around 11 am to keep some of the heat down.  If you went up the rivers is was high and muddy with the clean water further south.  The tide changed to outgoing at around 9am.
Bill Armstrong's motor died at the ramp so luckily we had seats open in with some of the solo boaters to accommodate his partner so we didn't leave anyone on the bank.  Bill could of left his boat at the ramp and jumped in with someone but he was frustrated with his boat and choose not to.  Since he did pay his entry fee and launch he got the 3 participation points and like the trooper he is he got his 1 point for showing up at the weigh-in wearing his club shirt and hat.
Weigh in was at 1pm and we had 17 out of 21 catch fish with only 1 limit caught by Randy Cole.

Total fish count was 36  two less than last month even though we had more members fishing.  Total weight was 47.9 pounds also down from last month.

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Pete Potter

Last year's Angler of the Year Pete Potter finally makes it into the top four spots this year.  He only caught 2 fish but one was a brute tipping the scales at 5.09 pounds which also happened to be the Big Fish of the tournament.  Pete's winning weight was 6.18 pounds.  Last year Pete won this July Perdido River tournament with 3 fish including a kicker of 5.31 pounds.
Oh....and he did it this year out of the back seat!

Great job!

Congrats Pete!

2nd Place
Randy Cole

Randy was the only member to bring in a limit of fish out of the 17 members who caught fish.   His limit was light only 5.19 pounds but way good enough for Second Place on a tough day.   Well tough for the rest of us that is.    This is Randy's first trip this season to earn a paycheck out of the 5 tournaments he's participated in.  Just one more and he can vote!

Great Job!

Congratulations Randy!

3rd Place
Tony Boyett

Tony is still jumping around in the money slots.  This month he manages a Third place finish.  His 4 fish weighed in at 3.66 pounds.  The fifth time this year in the money!  Tony's been steadily climbing the AOY leader board from 17 to 13 to 10 and now 8th place with just 15 points out of the Top Six.

Great Job!

Congratulations Tony!

4th Place
Cliff Armstrong

Cliff rounds out our Top 4 with his one fish he brought to the scales.  Looking at the picture you'd think it was bigger than Pete's but Cliff's weighed in at 3.60 pounds.    Not to take away from or diminish Cliff's fish catching ability but it's pitiful that 3.60 pounds takes 4th place in a tournament of 21 Hawg Hunters.  Just as bad as 17th place Dave Bock having a 12 inch fish weigh just 0.62 pounds.  That's just under a 10 ounce keeper fish.

Anyway great job Cliff on a nice Perdido River fish.  You boat with Pete Potter in the back seat comes up smelling like roses with the most weight for the tournament.  You both could of been First Place if this was a team tournament.

Great Job!

Congratulations Cliff!

AOY Analysis:

Not much changed this month in our Top Six however Buddy and Mack changed places.   Buddy Zeroed this tournament on his home lake.  Sometimes that home field advantage will get the best of you.

So here's the point spread of the Top Six:

1st - Lee Brannon - 167 pts
2nd - Jere Jaillite - 141 pts
3rd - Jeff Weaver - 121 pts
4th - Mack Cramer - 120 pts
5th - Buddy Yates - 118 pts
6th - Brian Nall - 115 pts
7th - Dave Dyess - 107 pts

Tight race in the 3rd through 6th positions and it's anybody guess as how it will end up.   Participation points like the meeting and hat and shirt might just make up the difference in the end.

Great job to the Top Six!

CO-AOY Analysis:

On the Co-Angler side of things we still have Brian Nall leading the pack with 115 points followed not so closely anymore by Dave Nason with 96 points with John Schaeff in 3rd with 77 points.  Both Dave and John were missing at the tournament so Brian got a good jump ahead.

Great Job Brian!
