Minutes of the Meeting:
The November meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to
order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 15th of November at Founaris
Bros.
Greek Restaurant by our new President
Jeff Weaver. We had 25 members present.
Old Business:
A vote was conducted to include Matt Barnes into the general membership
and passed by all members. Congrats Matt and welcome to the
Club.
Youngest/Newest Member of
the Club
Matt Barnes
The minutes from the last
waived by the membership.
The
treasury report was read and accepted.
Booray Report: The Booray pot keeps growing and since no one has won it
in the past year the Weight drops down to 5 pounds. .
It's now $672 for a 5.0
pound fish.
See Buddy
for details.
This month's 50/50 was won by Rob Vincent who is still a guest
as he has yet to fish his first tournament with us. Maybe we
should change the rules....about guests winning our 50/50 or just make
him a member as he comes to meetings more than our regular members do.
The new e-board came up with a killer schedule and one thing to note is
we are fishing 3 two day tournaments in the Spring and only 1 two day
in the Fall. Plan to attend them all. Should be
great times if mother nature cooperates with us.

2018 Season Club Officers
President: Jeff Weaver
Vice President/Treasurer: Dave Nason
Secretary: Dave Bock
Tournament Director: Dave Dyess
Asst. Tournament Director: Bill Armstrong
Congrats to the incoming E-board. Thanks for your service to
our great club. We look forward seeing how a well oiled
machine operates...not like Pete Potter's big motor or Tony Boyett's
trolling motor or Bill Armstrong's prop during the November Tournament.
Awards Banquet
The 2017 Awards banquet will be held Friday night December 15th at
Sonny's Barbecue at 6pm. It will cost us $18 a plate for some
great food served buffet
style. Be sure to bring
your money to
the December meeting. Guests are invited and it looks like we
have 37 people already committed. Come out and support your
2017
Top Six winners including the Co-AOY of the Year!
And don't forget we will be awarding the
coveted Slammer Award to someone most deserving this year.
New Business:
Cookout sign up sheets will be used again this year. Be sure
to do your part and sign up for extra duty at our cookouts.
We have been successful in the past because our members go
out of their way to make it so. This year I'm sure will
be no different.
If your address or phone number has changed be sure to contact Jere
Jaillite as he has been the official keeper of the Club Phone Book.
Thanks Jere!
From the Tournament Director:
We welcomed Dave Dyess as our new Tournament Director and he says
nothing is going to change we are still going to follow the rules we
have in place. All though sunrise may be a little later in
the
mornings.
Payouts for the October Fish off and monthly tournament
were handed out.
Congrats to all those who received a paycheck. Great job!
Remember if you want to be a boater in our tournaments you have to
have your insurance policy on file with the Assistant Tournament
Director - Bill Armstrong prior to the draw.
The draw was conducted for the start of the season November tournament.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
November Tournament:
The
November Tournament was held on Miller's Ferry out of Ellis Landing.
We had 20 members fishing out of 12 boats. The
weather was
nice for November and we finally got to fish in front of a coming cold
front instead of after. The clouds started rolling in for
rain
later that evening but we stayed dry all the way though coming home.
The wind picked up though the day and the temp was mild in
the
high 60's to mid 70's. Water temp was around 64 degrees not
really a winter pattern.
We
caught 46 fish weighing a total of 73.29 pounds with 5 limits and 4
goose eggs. All the fish survived the ordeal and were
promptly
released to be caught again in the future. Some were even
released on various spots on the river as a couple of members were
culling fish during the tournament.
Tournament Results:
1st Place
Thom Labelle
Thom hasn't fished with us in a while since having his ankle surgery
but now that's he's back he's coming on strong. Thom was the
only one of us tied for First Place at the beginning of the new season
that didn't drop in the standings. Thom bought in a limit of
5
fish that weighed in at 8.51 pounds. Let it be known from a
reliable source that he didn't catch his first fish until 11am and then
caught 5 and started culling by 11:45am. And to top it off
his
limit was caught on the same worm. I'm not talking about the
same color of worm but the same exact worm...all 5 on one worm.
I'll let Thom tell you the color if he chooses to at the
meeting.
Oh yea....all 5 from the same spot too after engaging "Spot
Lock"
on one of them new Ultrex trolling motors.
Great Job!
Congrats Thom!
2nd Place
Lee Brannon
Lee brought in a limit of fish to the scales weighing in at 8.09
pounds. Starting the season out with a 2nd place finish after
wining the October Fish off. Lee has been on
fire ever since
our September tournament in which he had to borrow a prop from
Mack. It's all Mack's fault....lol
Great Job!
Congratulations Lee!
3rd Place
Dave Bock
Dave had 3 fish early but then had a front row seat to watch a master
at work. Yep Thom Labelle was Dave's back seater.
Dave did
however manage to finish off his limit with the scraps left over from
Thom and even got to cull once before it was over. Dave's
limit
weighed in at 7.86 pounds good enough to finish 3rd place. We
found a cove that the wind had pushed the bait and the bass back into.
Dave and Thom caught 8 keepers between themselves
without
moving the boat as "Spot Lock" was engaged on Dave's new Ultrex
trolling motor. Sorta justifies the outrageous cost....lol
Great Job!
Congratulations Dave!
4th Place
Jere Jaillite
Jere also had a limit of fish to round out the Top Four. His
limit tipped the scales 7.58 pounds. Jere started out as a
solo
boater but somehow managed a partner in the middle of the day.
But rumor has it he already had his limit before the extra
weight
was added to the boat.
Great Job!
Congratulations Jere!
AOY Analysis
New Season new players. At the start of the Season everyone
was tied for First place but as we begin to fish our November
tournament only one remains. This year we
start off with Thom Labelle. He showed us how to get it done by staying
focused and never giving up. His limit of fish didn't come
till late in the day. You just never know what will happen
during a Hawg Hunter tournament.
Top six after one tournament
1st - Thom Labelle - 21 pts
2nd - Lee Brannon - 20 pts
3rd - Dave Bock - 19 pts
4th - Jere Jaillite - 18 pts
5th - Don Jahnke - 17 pts
6th - Mack Cramer - 16 pts
As you can see the point spread is close so things are going to change
up a bit after the next tournament. But for now these Top Six can bask
in their glory. Hooyah!

The third place Gold position is last years Co-Angler of the Year Brian
Nall.

SLAMMER Nominee!
Well here we go again a new season and new antics for the Hawg Hunters.
This month we have Jeff "strap-on" Weaver and his sidekick
Dave Nason who struggled getting Jeff's boat in the water on pre-fish
day. Seems Jeff forgot to unstrap the rear of his boat from the
trailer. I'm sure everyone has done this from time to
time....but how about leaving the bow strap on during the second
attempt. Yep they used the bow strap to get the boat back up on
the trailer so they could get the tension off the rear straps then
forgot to unhook in when they dropped the boat back into the water.
Great communication skills guys.
Most
boaters have a routine ritual they follow when launching their boat so
as to not forget anything. It's probably best for the
non-boaters to leave the boaters alone during this time except to
ask...."is the plug in?" Unless of course you are asked by
a boater to help.
On the other hand when we are all done fishing a nice boat rub down always feels good.
The
was a discussion as to when a person becomes eligible for a Slammer
Nomination....well the time starts as soon as you leave the house for
the tournament and the event is witnessed by another Club Member.
Which means pre-fish days are included.
