Minutes of the Meeting:

The September meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 19th of September at Founaris Bros. Greek Restaurant by Jeff Weaver. We had 24 members present.

Old Business

The meeting started out with a little humor by Dave Dyess.

The minutes of last months meeting were waived by the membership.

The treasury report was read and accepted.

The Booray pot increased again to $288 but don't quote me since I wasn't at the meeting.  But it's about to start all over again as Lee "Booray" Brannon will be cashing it in.   Now is you change to get in if you are not already in the pot.   It only cost $2 per month paid in advance.  If fact I think it's that time again to pony up with the start of the new season.  $24 please!

This month's 50/50 was won by Jeff Weaver.  Remember the 50/50 monies collected go toward our cookouts during our two day tournaments.

The Changes were discussed during the meeting and will be voted on next month at the October meeting.  We'll have 20 members eligible to vote but you need to be present for your vote to count.  Not sure if your eligible?  Well you have to have fished 6 tournaments PRIOR to the meeting.    It will take a 2/3's majority of the voters present to get anything to pass.   Take into consideration what's good for the Club, not your personal preferences when you do vote.

Here's the link to the web page where the proposals are published.

New Business:

The Awards Banquet is set.  It's going to be held on the 14th of December at Sonny's Barbecue on Navy Blvd starting at 6:00pm.  Make plans to attend.  Don't forget to bring a guest too!

The September tournament was a one day tournament so no cookout required but next month in October we will do the annual President's Cookout  hopefully with steaks and baked potatoes.  We'll be at Lay Lake so it should be a great time had by all.   Volunteers for the Cookout duties were asked for with a sign up sheet.

From the Tournament Director:

Payouts for the August tournament were handed out.

Congrats to all those who received a paycheck.
Great job!

The draw for the September Tournament was conducted.

Drawn out were 14 boaters with 9 Co-Anglers for the September Tournament to be held at Fish River.

Meeting was adjourned 8:06 pm

September Tournament:

The September Tournament was held on Fish River at the Hwy 98 Bridge Landing.  We had 14 boats with 7 Co-Anglers brave enough to fish the one day till 4:00pm tournament.    The weather was Hot but cooled down some with a rain shower mid morning then got hot again by the time the of the weigh-in.  The water was a little high with muddy water further up north.  Of the 21 anglers, 19 managed to catch at least one fish.  We had 4 anglers catch limits and one with a really big fish.   Lee "Big Fish" Brannon managed to catch one that tipped the scales at 6.89 pounds!  This is the 5th time he's earned Big Fish honors this season!

Lee "Big Fish" Brannon

February (Saturday) - 6.66lbs -  Lake Seminole
February (Sunday) - 5.90 - Lake Seminole
March - 7.75 lbs - Apalachicola River
May - 4.46 lbs - Tensaw River
September - 6.89 lbs - Fish River

Lee has been taking the "Hawg Hunter" name seriously this year and he's caught some nice ones!

Total fish weight for the 53 fish caught was 73.02 pounds.  Only one didn't survive the ordeal of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters invading their natural habitat.

Tournament Results:

1st Place
Mack Cramer

Mack out fished us all by bringing in 5 nice looking fish to tip the scales at 9.46 pounds.  Almost a 2 pound average!  He didn't even bring his fancy boat with all the bells and whistles on it.  This is Mack's 2nd time this season winning a tournament.  And it just so happens his other win was also on Fish River back in January.  He beat of then with a limit weighing 7.15 pounds.

Great job!

Congrats Mack!

2nd Place
Kevin Simmons

Kevin joined us after a 4 month hiatus and comes back strong with a limit of fish weighing in at 7.45 pounds.    Good enough to take Second Place.  This is Kevin's first time in the money and should net him enough to pay his dues for next season.

Great Job!

Congratulations Kevin!

3rd Place
Tony Boyett

This month Tony manages to pull a Turkey!  3 third place finishes in 3 consecutive tournaments!  Wow!   Tony's limit of fish weighed in at 6.94 pounds just .05 lbs ahead of 4th place.    So far Tony has earned money in 7 out of 8 tournaments he's fished this season.  Any more and we just might report him to the IRS.

With this 3rd place finish Tony has made it up into the Top Six with only 1 more tournament left this season.
Your hard work is paying off!

Great Job!

Congratulations Tony!

4th Place
Lee Brannon

Lee rounds out our Top 4 with only 1 fish.  But she was a Hawg!  She dragged the scales all the way down to 6.89 pounds!   This is Lee's 7th time in the money slots this season but only his 2nd 4th place..

Great Job!

Congratulations Lee!

AOY Analysis:

Okay we have a Winner!

The 2018 Angler of the Year Award goes to.......drum roll......

LEE BRANNON

With only 11 tournaments in the books Lee has earned enough points that no one can catch him before the end of the year.  The most points you can earn on a two day tournament is 26 points with hat/shirt and meeting.  Lee is ahead by 45 points!  That makes him our new Angler of the Year for 2018!

Great Job and Congrats Lee!

(go ahead and take the next tournament off...you've earned it!)

So now our focus belongs to the other 5 places which are tight and it's still anybodys guess as to how they will turn out.

Currently in 2nd Place is Jere Jaillite with 157 points.  Followed closely by Mack Cramer with 156 points.  Mack has been coming on strong.  Behind Mack is Jeff Weaver still in 4th place with 147 points.    New to the Top Six is Tony Boyett who has been steadily climbing the leader board since deer season has been over with.  Tony's sitting in 5th with 136 points.  Just one point behind him is Brian Nall who sits 6th in the overall standings.  But he better watch out because just one point behind him in 7th place is Dave Dyess.
So here's how they look lined up.

2nd - Jere Jaillite - 157 pts
3rd - Mack Cramer - 156 pts
4th - Jeff Weaver - 147 pts
5th - Tony Boyett - 136 pts
6th Brian Nall - 135 pts
7th Dave Dyess - 134 pts
8th Buddy Yates - 132 pts

Like I said...it's anybodys guess as to how the drama for 2nd thru 6th place unfolds.    You'll just have to come and fish the Fish Off to find out what happens.

Great job to the Top Six!

CO-AOY Analysis:

Looks like we can Crown a winner in the Co-Angler of the Year Race Too!    And the winner is......drum roll please......

BRIAN NALL!

Brian has earned enough points to also take the next tournament off.  He's 30 points ahead of Dave Nason whose sitting in the Silver/Second position and impossible to beat.  Like I mentioned earlier the most you can get is 24 points for a two day tournament.

Congrats Brian!

Jumping up to the 3rd/Bronze position is John Russell Buck who's been steadily climbing the leader board since joining the club.

Booray Winner!

Lee "Booray" Brannon
6.89 pounds

Lee catches another Booray fish!   His 3rd Booray this year!
February, March and September

This is truly Lee's best year!   Every since he put his boat in the Ditch as the end of last season.   He must have prayed for something to change because Change it has and for the better!

Great Job Lee!

Yellow Ball Winner!

Randy Cole

Randy draws out the yellow ball which has not been won in some time. Great payday for him!
