Minutes of the Meeting:
The monthly Hawg Meeting for June 19th, 2019 was called to order by our
President Jeff Weaver at 7:00 pm. We had 20 members present with 2
guests. One was Jere Jaillite’s grandson Justin and the other was
prospective member George Colucci.
Old Business
Nothing was old except the crowd of people who show up at the meetings.
Most often heard by the members is “Where did Jeff find that one? Chuckle, Chuckle.
The reading of the minutes from the May meeting was waived by the
membership since our meetings have pretty much become standard.
The Treasurer report was read and accepted.
The Booray report was given. No one wrote down how much….must be a lot. We are still trying for that 6-pound fish.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Jeff Weaver. $35 went to the club and $35
to Jeff. Almost enough to pay next year’s dues….well that is if he
changes his current path and misses out on Angler of the Year title.
New Business:
Bill Armstrong said he needed to step down from the Tournament Director
duties so we elevated Brian Nall to the coveted position. Since Brian
is a Co-Angler at the mercy of his boater to bring him to the
tournaments John Buck volunteered to carry the scales back and forth to
the lakes, rivers, streams, and tributaries we fish. Thanks John!
Change proposals are due! If you want to change the oil in a well-oiled
machine you need to do so by the August meeting. Remember they have to
be in writing and turned in no later than the end of the August meeting
so they can get into the August Newsletter.
Nominations for next season’s E-board are being accepted now. If you
want to get more active in supporting our club and take an active role
in shaping the direction the club is going…this is your chance. Only
requirement is you have to have been an active member one full year.
Don’t worry John Russell and Wes….I is sure you’d get in this elite
group of club members. (That’s funny….my spell checker changed the “I’m
sure” to “I is sure”. I must have the southern version of Word.)
From the Tournament Director:
Payouts were handed out for the May Tournament at Miller’s Ferry.
Congrats to all those who received paychecks.
The draw was conducted with 16 members going out of I don’t know how
many boats. I didn’t get the pairings only the results for the Escambia
River Tournament.
June’s tournament was a local tournament held on the mighty Escambia
River at Swamphouse landing. I personally wasn’t there but I was told
it was a tough hot day to be fishing. Air temps were in the mid 90’s
with the water high with a good stain to muddy. I actually fished that
day too and I found the temps to be in the mid to low 70’s where I was.
Luckily it was a 1pm weigh-in on the Escambia River as one can only
stand so much heat when the fishing conditions are tough.
At the scales only 10 out of 16 members caught fish and no one with a
limit. 29 total fish caught weighing 45.49 pounds. Big fish of the Day
was a 4.39 brute caught by Wes Chancery. Great job Wes! You even beat
me and my partner Dave Dyess. We managed to catch 35 smallmouth
Saturday afternoon but nothing close to that big.

First
place honors went to Wes Chancery with 4 fish weighing 8.16 pounds.
Welcome Wes to the Winners’ Circle. This is Wes’s first time winning a
club tournament with us. Most of us had to wait years to get in on this
elite group. A couple of us are still trying.
Great job!
Congratulations Wes!
2nd Place
Second place went to Dave Nason who also found 4 fish. His 4 fish
tipped the scales to 6.47 pounds. I’m told his boater skunked….I wonder
how that felt. This is Dave’s first time this year in the money slots.
Great Job!
Congratulations Dave!
3rd Place
Third Place went to Brian Nall who also managed to catch 4 fish. His 4
fish went 6.32 pounds just .15 pounds behind Dave. This is Brian’s
second trip to the money slots, his first being a 2nd place at Lay Lake
in March.
Great Job!
Congratulations Brian!
4th Place
Lee Brannon also caught 4 fish big enough to put him into 4th place.
His fish weighed 5.92 pounds. Believe it or not this is just Lee’s
second time in the money slots this year. He took a second place way
back in November at the start of the season.
Great Job!
Congratulations Lee!

With only four more tournaments to go things are really heating up. The
weather is too but that is a very different story from the Top Six
Race. Last month John Russell was leading the pack. This month he
skunked and it cost him the lead. So leading the Angler of the Year
Race for this month of June is Jeff Weaver by 5 points. Great job Jeff!
2nd place is John Russell who still has a shot at the title. Moving up
to Third Place is Lee Brannon with 124 points only 4 points behind John
Russell.
Kevin missed the tournament so he slid down one spot to settle in at 4th this month.
Maintaining 5th is Mack Cramer with 108 points.
Jumping up into 6th is John Buck who pushes Jere Jaillite down to 7th by one point.
Still lots of fishing to go and nobody has their position sewed up for
the end. Looks like this year it may come down to the wire. One thing
is for sure. You can’t climb the ladder if you don’t fish.
Great job to the Top Six!

John Russell still maintains his lead in the Co-Angler of the Year
race. However, it has reduced to 50 points vs the 56-point lead he had
last month. Darn the bad luck.
Moving up to the Silver Position is Brian Nall. Brian now has 78 points
and is 10 points ahead of Terry Ferdinandt.
I think the only way Brian can catch John Russell is if John Russell
calls it a season and stops fishing right now. What are the chances of
that?
