Minutes of the Meeting:
The May meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
for May 15th 2019 was called to order by our President Jeff Weaver at 7:00 pm. We had 20 members present with no guests.
Jeff started us out with a little humor to get things rolling on the floor that is.
Old Business
The reading of the minutes from the April meeting was waived by the
membership since our meetings have pretty much become standard.
The treasury report was read and accepted.
The Booray report was given as $328 for a 6-pound fish.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Brian Nall. $45 went to the club and $45
to Brian. Surely now we can afford Kentucky Fried Chicken instead of
Walmart Chicken on our March Tournaments.
Kudo’s went out to Mutt and Jeff…I mean John Russell and Wes for
picking up the food at the April Tournament.
New Business:
The cookout for the May Tournament was discussed with Hamburgers and
sausages planned. Terry Smith volunteer to be the one operating the
grill. He promised flame broiled burger and sausages and boy did he
deliver! They were great as you can see in the Tournament Pictures.
Kudo’s and praise went out to our Webmaster, Dave Bock for the great
job he is doing month to month on our club webpage. He put a lot of
work into redesigning the look to bring us out of the 70’s. Wait…did we
have computers then? Discussion was tossed around about how to further
compensate Dave for the job he’s doing. I noticed how no one opened
their wallets though. But honestly Dave isn’t doing it for the money.
He’s doing it for the love of the club and being a part of something
bigger than himself. All he needs to know is that you are reading and
enjoying it.
We also had a discussion on the new changes to the Florida Law
requiring permits now on Perdido River and Lake Seminole for the
Florida 16” rule. Our Tournament Director was going to check in to it
and get back with us before the next tournament we fish in Florida.
Which by the way is the next one over on the Escambia River in June.
From the Tournament Director:
Payouts were handed out for the April Tournament at Lake Jordan.
Congrats to all those who received paychecks.
Our voted in Tournament Director and Assistant would not be fishing
with us so Dave Dyess volunteered to be acting Tournament Director with
Dave Bock carrying the scales to the lake/river/pond/fishing hole.
Thanks to the Dave’s.
The draw was conducted with 14 members going in 10 boats for the two day tournament.
May’s tournament was a two-day tournament held at Miller’s Ferry out of
Ellis landing. The weather was clear and hot…mid 80’s with the water
muddy the further up river you went. Cleanest water I found was
Alligator Bayou. We did have a little rain Friday night but nothing
during tournament hours.
At the scales everyone caught fish both days, probably because Bill
Armstrong was not in attendance. Day one Jere Jaillite was leading the
pack with 7.94 pounds. Big fish of 3.91 was caught by Terry Ferdinandt.
On Sunday Tony Boyett came in with a nice limit over 10 pounds to
capture the win. Sunday’s big fish 3.37 pounds was caught by Dave
Dyess.

1st Place
Tony
went from 5th on Saturday to beating us all on Sunday to capture 1st
place. His two day total of 10 fish tipped the scales at 16.21 pounds.
Sundays weight of 10.69 pounds almost double his weight Saturday of
5.52 pounds.
Great job!
Congrats Tony
2nd Place
Second place goes to Terry “F” who managed 7 keepers for the weekend
weighing in at 13.33 pounds. He also pulled out the Big Fish of the
weekend tipping the scales at 3.91 pounds.
Great Job!
Congratulations Terry!
3rd Place
Wes was just barely behind Terry in weight. In fact if it wasn’t for
the one dead fish Wes weighed in on Sunday Wes would of finished 2nd
with Terry in 3rd. Wes’ two day total of 8 fish was 13.15 pounds after
penalties. Remember we deduct .2 pounds for each dead fish. Cost him a
point and a bunch of money….well maybe a little bunch.
Great Job!
Congratulations Wes!
4th Place
John Russell managed to beat out Mack Cramer by .08 pounds to take over
4th place. He caught 9 fish for a total weight of 12.68 pounds. Mack
having 12.60 pounds.
Great Job!
Congratulations John Russell!

Okay on to the second half of the Season with tournament number 7 down
and just 5 more to go before we crown a winner in the AOY Race. This
month John Russell snatches the lead back from Jeff Weaver by beating
him 5 spots. Once again we have a Co-Angler leading the pack.
Jeff drops down to Second just 4 points away.
Kevin Simmons our Hero Last month at Lake Jordan goes to Zero this
month at Miller’s Ferry with a dismal last place finish. However he
still manages to stay solid in the 3rd place spot.
Lee Brannon also manages to hang on to his 4th place spot.
5th is now claimed by Mack Cramer as John Buck was a no-show this month
dropping him down to 7th place. Which was Mack Last month. Lack of
participation can be brutal on the points standings. I wonder how close
the numbers would be if we used our best 9 out of 12 tournaments.
Last month Jere Jaillite was sitting in 6th place with a 10 point
spread to 5th. This month he’s still in 6th buy has drastically reduced
the gap to just 1 point behind 5th place.
Great job to the Top Six!

The gap just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Can we call this horse
raise yet? John Russell now has a commanding 56 point lead in the
Co-Angler of the Year race.
Terry Ferdinandt take over the 2nd place position with 66 points while
Brian Nall drops to the 3rd Bronze position with 60 points.
We haven’t had a very big Co-Angler turnout this year. Come on guys…get
with it and join us for some fun. We’ve had plenty of empty seats. Our
next 3 tournaments will be closer to home but hot with 1pm weigh-ins.
