Minutes of the Meeting:

The December meeting of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters
was brought to order at 7:00 P.M on Wednesday the 12th of December at Founaris Bros. Greek Restaurant by Jeff Weaver. We had 18 members present and 2 guests.  One was Terry Ferdinandt who moved here from Minnesota and is interested in joining a club and the other is a younger guy named Wesley Chancery.

Old Business

The minutes of last months meeting were waived by the membership.

The treasury report was read and accepted.

The Booray pot started over back in October and we are still on the hunt for a 6 pound Hawg.

This month's 50/50 was won by someone who was willing to support the club and buy a raffle ticket.  If you know who it was...call them and ask to split half with you.

The Awards Banquet was held Friday night the 14th and it turned out to be a great time.  Nice to see all the ladies who support us through the year.  Thanks to all those who helped making this another special event for the club.  Jeff once again did a stellar job on the presentation.

New Business:

Jere Jaillite is working on an updated phone list.  If you have changes be sure to get them to him before the next reprint.

Mack has once again opened up his house for his annual Football party.  This time its the College National Championship game to be held on the 7th of January starting at 4:30 pm.  Bring your own Drinks.  Be sure to RSVP with Mack so he know's your coming.

From the Tournament Director:

Payouts for the December Tournament were handed out.

Congrats to all those who received a paycheck.
Great job!

The draw for the December Tournament was conducted.

Drawn out were 8 boaters with 6 Co-Anglers and 2 guests for the Escambia River Tournament.

Meeting was adjourned sometime Wednesday night.

December Tournament:

The December Tournament was held at on the Escambia River out of Swamphouse Landing.  Most everyone met their partners at the ramp since the fishery is right in our back yard.
The day started out in the mid 50's with the temps climbing to the mid 60's by weighin time.  We had an outgoing tide and the river current was moving pretty good since Thursday we had a lot of rain.  The main river was muddy with cleaner water coming from some of the backwater areas.  Early morning we had clear skies but to the north and then by the afternoon it as overcast..
Of the 18 people we had fishing only 13 caught fish with only 1 member catching a limit of fish.  At weigh-in we had 34 fish caught with 3 of them being over the 16" Florida Rule.  Total weight was 45.02 pouinds.   A little better than the November Tournament probably because we had more Hawg Hunters out there fishing.

Tournament Results:

1st Place
John Buck

Last month we had Junior in the Winner's circle.  This month we have Senior.  John's keeping it in the family .  He only weighed in 4 fish but they were big enough to take the win.  His 4 fish weighed 7.00 pounds.  This is John's first win of the 2019 season during his first tournament of the season.

Great job!

Congrats John!

2nd Place
Mack Cramer

Mack is the only angler to catch a limit of fish so far this season.  His 5 fish weighed 6.74 pounds doing way better that last month.   Zero to Second Hero!

Great Job!

Congratulations Mack!

3rd Place
Jeff Weaver

Jeff manages to take 3rd place again this month after doing so last month.  He only had 3 fish but one of them was a doozy.  Jeff's weight was 6.68 pounds with his big fish weighing in at a whopping 4.71 pounds.  Of course he took big fish honors too!

Great Job!

Congratulations Jeff!

4th Place
John Russell Buck

Dropping a couple of places from last month but still good enough to get paid John Russell finds himself in 4th Place.  His 4 fish weighed in at 5.87 pounds.  Jonh Russell's big fish was an "over 16" fish that weighed 2.93 pounds.  So far two out of two times in the money for John Russell!

Great Job!

Congratulations John Russell!

AOY Analysis:

Two tournaments in the record books but still 10 to go.  It's real early talking about the Angler of the Year but  it takes all year to make a champion.  Or at least you need to fish all year.  Hard to make it to the top by missing tournaments.

In First Place is our Co-angler John Russell Buck who's leading the pack by 1 point.

Jumping up to Second Place is Jeff Weaver fresh off back to back Third Place finishes.

Dropping down one slot to Third Place is Lee Brannon who has been struggling the last two tournaments but I wouldn't cut him out just yet.

Keeping his Fouth Place spot is Dave Hall who's managed to catch fish in both tournaments he's fished.

Also maintaining his spot, Mack Cramer stays in Fifth Place now only 3 points behind Dave.

Finishing out our Top Six is John Buck fresh off his win.  Them 15 points for First Place sure rocket you up the leader board this early in the season.

Lot's of fishing left to go and you need to make plans to fish with us if you want one of them coveted Top Six plaques handed to you next year at the Banquet.

Great job to the Top Six!

CO-AOY Analysis:

John Russell still leads our Co-Angler of the Year Race for the 2019 season.  His lead is getting bigger.  Up to 10 points now.  Gonna be hard to beat the way he's fishing.

Maintaining the Silver Position is Dave Hall who managed another golf ball fish this month.

Taking over the Bronze 3rd place position is Tony Boyett but I wouldn't worry too much guys.   Tony will bring his boat to a tournament sometime this year  effectively knocking himself out of the race.

Prospective Members!

Wesley Chancery

Terry Ferdinandt

These two guys fished our guest tournament with us this past weekend at Escambia.  Neigher one won the tournament so they might be a good bet.  The young one, Wes is being sponsored by John Russell Buck and ill probably become a boater.  Terry is a transplant from Minnesota who contacted the club though our web page.  Both seemed like great guys.  We'll have a discussion about them next meeting before we vote on their membership according to our rules.
