Minutes of the Meeting:

Lucky for us we were able to get together again (being socially
responsible of course) and had our monthly Hawg Hunter club meeting. We
held it again at the Northeast Pensacola (NEP) sports complex off 9
mile road. 13 members were present. I guess when you eliminate the food
from our meetings we have less people show up. Looks like just those
who are going to fish the upcoming tournament. Next month we will be
discussing the changes that have been proposed so please show up to get
informed.
Old Business
The minutes are being kept and published on the webpage. If you see
anything we may have missed bring it to Dave Bock’s attention. Until he
retires from working the night shift he’ll be absent the meetings.
Thanks for those of you keeping notes and getting them to him.
See Buddy Yates for the info on the booray pot. We are still looking
for that 6 pound fish. Kevin got real close during the Perdido
tournament in July.
The 50/50 was won by late comer Tony Boyett. Guess we should have shook up the tickets better.
New Business:
E-board
nominations have been pouring in for the positions of Office. Yea
right! We have a potential list but it’s not too late to jump on the
band wagon and throw you name in the hat for a position. Volunteers
always seem to do a better job than forcing a spot on someone. You
still have until the beginning of the October meeting to pick a job.
Annual dues are coming up. Due in October but will be accepted
no later than the start of the November meeting. Get them paid early
please.
A lively discussion was held on what calls for
disqualification in one of our tournaments. Our tournament rules spell
them out on what happens after disqualification. I wouldn't be suprised
if we don't have changes coming.
Next Meeting:
September’s meeting is
going to start 30 minutes early at 6:30pm so we have time to discuss
the change proposals. Be there or be Square! If we are unable to get
back to Fournais Brother’s restaurant for the meeting then we plan to
use the NEP sports complex again.
Rule Changes:
We will be discussing the
Rule Changes at the September meeting then vote on them during the
October meeting. Remember you have to have had fished 6 tournaments
prior to the October meeting. That means September is you last chance
to get your 6 tournaments fished. We currently have 14 members eligible
with 2 members, Dave Nason and Pete Potter on the bubble to fish
September if they want to vote.

Awards Banquet
The End of the Year
Awards Banquet is scheduled for 4 December, 2020 starting at 6:30 pm.
It will be held at the Sonny’s BBQ joint on Navy Blvd.
From the Tournament Director:
The payouts for the July Tournament were handed. Congrats to the Top Four and Big Fish last month.
Reminder:
Alabama fishing licenses expire August 31. Here’s a link to renew them.
Make sure you get one as we average 8 to 10 tournaments a year fishing
Alabama.

Next month we are fishing Logan Martin and from the discussion that
took place at the meeting everyone should be careful. Pay attention to
the Hazard markers as they really do mark the hazards. Also don’t cut
the corners at the points as most of them are rocky. The further north
you go the more hazardous it gets. Buck and Bass normally carry maps
for the lake. We’ve got 12 rooms reserved and we hope to see you there.
August’s
monthly tournament was held on the mighty Escambia River. We didn’t get
any rain during the tournament hours but boy was it hot! We had 13
brave souls fishing out of 9 boats. Weigh-in started promptly at 1 pm
with 11 members catching fish. Total fish count was 23 fish weighing
26.48 pounds. Big Fish honors went to Terry Ferdinandt with a scale
busting 2.06 pound brute! There was only 1 limit caught and I assume no
fish over 16” as most 16” fish reach the 2.5 pound mark.

Tony
was the only one to bring in a limit of fish this tournament. Which of
course resulted in him winning the tournament. Seems like most everyone
caught small fish so the numbers game was the key play this month.
Tony’s 5 fish weighed 5.40 pounds.
Great Job!
Congratulations Tony!
2nd Place
Dave managed to find 4 keepers to get him back on top of the AOY standings. His total weight was 3.80.
Great Job!
Congratulations Dave!
3rd Place
Terry found another keeper to go with the tournament Big Fish to put him in 3rd place. His two fish totaled 3.09.
Great Job!
Congratulations Terry!
4th Place
Mack finally caught a couple of keeper fish to put him in 4th place. His 2 fish weighed 2.85 pounds.
Great Job!
Congratulations Mack!

Okay
just two more tournaments to go and we have another lead change. This
time its Dave Dyess claiming his lead back that he held for most of the
season. Dave now has 148 points but only commands a 2 point lead.
Lee Brannon maintains his second place standing with 146 points.
Carlito and John Russell are tied for 3rd with 135 points. They
are 13 points down but it’s still possible for them to win as long as
Dave and Lee stay home.
Last month’s leader John Buck drops down to 5th this month because he was a no-show at the tournament. John has 132 points.
And bringing up the rear in 6th place is Mack Cramer who advanced his points this month to be only 5 points back John Buck.

We
also have just 2 more tournaments to go for the Co-Angler of the Year
Race…but this one is almost finished. Carlito is leading the pack with
135 points. Well ahead of second place Terry Smith by 26 points. If
Carlito stays home the rest of the season Terry could maybe catch up
and beat him but that isn’t likely.
Dave Hall brings up the rear to sit in 3rd place but he’s way
down the point’s board to make a difference with only 2 tournaments
left.
Hero to Zero Nominee:
Looks like we got us another one of them there “Hero to Zero”
scenarios. This month we have Kevin Simmons in the spot light for that.
Last month he waxed us at Perdido River by winning the tournament with
a three fish weighing 8.03 pounds. It was anchored with the July Big
Fish winner of 5.82 pounds. This month at Escambia he zeroed! No fish,
Nix, Nada. Great Job Kevin!
