Pensacola Hawg Hunters

2022 Season

Volume: 25

Minutes of the Meeting:

The May meeting of the Hawg Hunters was brought to order at Fournias Brothers restaurant by our President John Buck. We had only 13 members present at the meeting. We started at the meeting at 7:00 pm.

Old Business

The minutes from last meeting were read and accepted.

The treasury report was also read and accepted by the membership.

The Booray pot is now up to $1492 for a 5.5 pound bass. At this rate we are going to have to fill out a W2-G form when this one gets won.

The 50/50 was won by Carlito.

Club Hats: Now we tabled this discussion until Mack Cramer comes back from Mexico.
>br> The April Cookout was a success because everyone participated and it showed real club support. Thanks to all.

New Business

The payouts for the April Lake Jordan tournament were handed out.

The draw was conducted for the 1-day Miller’s Ferry. We drew out 6 boaters with 2 co-Anglers which gave you a 50% chance of making it the Top Four money positions…..if you caught a fish….right John?

Meeting was adjourned 7:20 pm.

Nothing exciting happened at the meeting….but afterwards it got bumpy. We all went to the parking lot to further our travel arrangements and talk about places to stay when a guy offered Buddy Yates to stay in his camper. Well the guy was pretty persistent as he even tried to force the camper onto the back of Buddy’s truck. Quite the site as you could see Buddy’s truck jumping and shaking trying to get away. It left quite a mess. Only problem was the camper, a large fifth wheel model was still hooked to guy’s truck. We could maybe even say it was a Slammer although Buddy really didn’t have anything to do with it. It was forced on him. Here are a couple of pictures of the carnage left by the transaction. From the Tournament Director:

The payouts for the March Lake Mitchell tournament were handed out.

The draw was conducted for the 2-day Lake Jordan, Alabama tournament. We drew out 8 boaters with 2 co-Anglers.

Meeting was adjourned 7:47 pm.

May’s tournament was a single day tournament held at Miller’s ferry. The weather was great with it warming up to the mid 80’s come weigh-in time. Overcast most of the day and the rain held off until we started our drive home. Out of the 8 club members and one guest fishing with us we caught 29 fish weighing 48.28 pounds with no help from John Buck. It appears he had boat issues for most of the day so it forced him to fish on the trolling motor which is his excuse for not catching anything. However his partner Terry Smith fishing right behind him managed to find a nice limit of fish. One of fish Terry caught ended up being the new Big Fish of the Year weighing a good 4.84 pounds. Great Job Terry! Our guest Tina even caught fish!

First Place

1st Place

First Place is Terry Smith who came in with an impressive limit of 5 fish weighing 12.63 pounds. I heard Terry mention this was his personal best…..well looking up his stats on our web page it’s true. This is Terry’s second Win with us since joining the club. His winning weight of 12.63 pounds is the heaviest one day winning weight of his Hawg Hunter career. His previous win was back in February of 2017 we he weighed 9.47 pounds. As for Big Fish, the 4.84 pound Hawg he showed us this time also beat his personal best of 4.45 lbs caught back in March of 2020 at Lake Mitchell. This is Terry’s Sixth time taking Big Fish Money.

Great Job!

Congratulations Terry!

Second Place

2nd Place

Lee Brannon who’s usually in the top spot this season slipped a little and landed in Second Place this month. Lee it’s okay to share and let other have the glory sometimes. Anyway Lee managed to catch another limit of fish. He’s weight was 8.9 pounds. This is Lee’s 5th time in the money slots this year Four First Place finishes and now this one Second Place. He’s caught fish in every tournament this year so far. 42 fish to be exact….just 3 fish short of perfect for the 7 tournaments we’ve fished. It’s very rare but Lee Skunked last year at this tournament…..No I take that back…the records appear to say he skunked last year…but actually he was disqualified for having one too many fish 6 in total. So now I gotta say…good job Lee in managing your 5 fish limit this time.

Great Job!

Congratulations Lee!

Third Place

3rd Place

Tony finishes Third Place again! His 5 fish limit weighed 7.23 pounds. This is Tony’s third time in the money. He finished First in March, then 3rd last month and now 3rd again this month

Great Job!

Congratulations Tony!

Fourth Place

4th Place

Carlito captures Fourth Place! He caught 4 fish weighing 7.05 pounds. The lunker of his bad was a 4.2 pound whopper. This is Carlito’s second Fourth Place finish this season.

Great Job!

Congratulations Carlito!

AOY Analysis:

Place Top Six Hawg Hunters Points

There was more shuffling of places in the Top Six this month. Since Mack choose to go Mexico instead of fishing with us he dropped down a couple of slots 5th opening the door for Dave Bock and John Buck to move up some.

Lee is still leading the Angler of the Year Race and has now jumped up to 20 points ahead of everyone else. Almost earning him a tournament day off if he chooses to while still maintaining his First Place Spot.

John Russell manages to maintain his Second Place Spot this month.

Jeff jumps up one spot to take over the 3rd place position and is just 9 points away from John Russell.

Dave Bock jumps up two places this month to take over 4th Place with 108 points.

Mack now sits in 5th place just one point behind Dave Bock.

Rounding out our Top Six this month is John Buck who’s only 5 points behind Mack.
